Grr animal cruelty really hacks me off, it makes my blood boil that I physically shake.

gggrrrrrrr so many cruelty cases! here in New mexico we have has several people charged with horrible abuse, makes me sad to call this place home sometimes. The other day a dog came in to the shelter with his nose ripped off, it was awful!

BUT, although I can't condone what the man did, he was trying to break up a fight. If your dog was set on by a larger dog and you couldn't seperate them, what would you do? As I say, I'm in no way condoning what the guy did, the poor dog must have suffered terribly, but what about the other dog? Nobody has mentioned the smaller dog that was being attacked.

Yeah i know what you mean i thought that but you dont need to hit it over the head thats fatal im sure if your attacking a dog with a monkey wrench you could hit it somewhere else on the body and it would get off i dont understand why the head also they must of got rid of the evidence as no mention of the dog being found

What do you do if your dog is in a fight with another dog? That's not something I've really though about...

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that it was over the top & cruel! There are other ways to seperate a fight. But it could just have been blind panic & grabbing whatever came to hand. If I had been there when Dempsey was attacked the other day I would have hit the attacking dog over the head, and would probably have used whatever I could!

I just wonder why nobody (including the reporter) has asked whether the attacked dog was ok?

I don't know, not really. I would have been sickened to see it happen, but I wasn't there so I don't know what they had already done to seperate the dogs.

That's a difficult one. You can use a break stick (I don't like them, but others swear by them), but how many people carry one with them? You can push the attacking dog's head & nose into the other dog so that it can't breath, but that's not an easy thing to do with two struggling dogs. Or you can twist the collar & hope that the dog will let go because again, it can't breath.

Sick, I would have got off the bus and mashed the guy in the head with his own pissing wrench. Urgh makes me so angry!

a monkey wreach but again if one my dog was gettign attack like that i would kill the other dog i wouldn't even think twice about it.
