I NEED ADVICE PLEASE, EVENING PRIMROSE OIL/SCRATCHING
Howdy all,
I need some advise please. Our 5 year old staffy, is driving herself and us mad with scratching. Her latest tick injection made absolutely no difference to her scratching. She scratches until she bleeds sometimes. It's distressing for her, and us, her parents. I have been putting Vaseline on the rash, which does help a bit. I read on this website that Evening Primrose may help. I assume it means to give it to her orally, rather than open the capsule, and rub the oil on her tummy etc?????

Not used the Primrose oil so can't help there but I use Cortavance.
Not sure if you can get that where you are, however, it's a spray and has almost instant relief.

Hello! I've used EPO in kennels but only as a supplement alongside chemical treatments for the skin condition. Same questions as everyone else really, why is she itching in the first place?

We have been using EPO for the last few months on Bane as he is allergic to dust mites. He has made a huge improvement over the last couple of weeks but can't be certain if it is due to the Oil as we have a dust mite spray for our house too. We put it in his food each day.
When he has mad itching sessions we also use Cortavance, it is a steroid spray which we use once a day and that is fantastic at stopping the itch.
Have you spoken to your vet about what it could be? Has she been like it her whole life or does it come and go?
