My staffy is about 4yrs old and is happy to meet anyone that comes to my house. Whoever it is can come in with no problems. Now my question is as he get old will that change and go into protect mode or will he stay the same as he is now.

Hahaha! Almost certainly stay the same. In my experience Staffords will help burglars to put the loot into bags & then ope the door for them to get out!

However, if anyone tries to hurt his family, he'll kill em!!

that is sooo true, my dogs love people entering the house but the other day my older nephew was getting pick on by this lad that was 4/5 years older than him and xena who is nearly 9 year old went really protective, which made my sam & billie run out of the house that made me follow Laughing i was pretty shocked really i never seem my xena like that before. when he saw my sam he was nearly crying Laughing

When I used to take Bandit out late at night he'd be fine until someone walked towards me. Didn't matter if they were just innocent walkers, I'd start to feel a vibration through the lead, then a low rumble, followed by a loud growl. If they hadn't crossed the road by then it would be followed by a very loud snarl with those HUGE white teeth glowing in the dark! Laughing THEN they'd cross the road...........quickly!

I always felt very safe at night.

shane wrote:yes they are one of the most protective breeds of dog i ever came across, that's why they have the nickname the nanny breed, but far as watch dogs goes forget it, if you want a watch dog get a Alsatian or a rottweiler, if you want a loyal family member you cant go no further than a staffy, you will find in your staffy an impressive protector, should anyone try to harm you, or approach you in a menacing manner your staffy certainly would take immediate action and will not stand idly by.

Agreed thumbs up
