Re: just curious
It really depends on the size and how active the dog is. If you go by the general shape of the dog and then work around the guidelines the food gives you'll not go wrong.
Your Max looks perfect so whatever you are feeding I'd say is bang on

Re: just curious
The guidelines on all the food bags are just that - guidelines.
According to the guidelines, Dempsey should be getting 400 grams of food a day, which would actually leave him in starvation mode!

Re: just curious
Bag says 300g give them 275g they are lean but spot on the scale for bodymass but they do conserve well when not worked. If i give em a hard day i plop a handfull of raw mince beef/horse and some sardines in with the night meal

Re: just curious
I only give it if they have been worked hard otherwaise its dry like you. They both went through a fussy period at 9 months and marley didnt eat for three days apart from ripping thekitchen bin up..laska ate a shoe .. Dry works well for my two as i find it easy to weigh out and suppliment when needed. Just a thought for when hes older after a big walk sardines make a great addition for coat and muscle growth.
Have to add due to counter surfing laska i had a loverly onion curry last night due to furry one eating all the raw chicken while my back was turned....

Re: just curious
I don't i feed raw BUT to give an example
My staff weighs 23kg and eats roughly 400-500g a day
My ambull weighs 47kg and eats roughly 500-600g a day
these both maintain their weight that i want them at.
Yes i know they are raw fed, but as you can see all dogs are very different so the guidelines are just that guidelines feed by eye and the body condition of your dog.

To prove that point marley is on 270g and weighs in at 23kg too. It depends on dog like ella says. Play about and write down what your giving and compare weight. Its not an exact science whats written on bag

No I can feed her by what she looks like and what exersize she gets.
Found it hard recently as because of her joints I can't do the things she is used too, but a couple of 2 hour romps a day, along with games which are purely mind related rather than tugs/fetch keeps her in top shape.
Go by your instinct Xx

Re: just curious
Rocky also has a dry kibble and has about 150 g of it per day, we do add a little bit of cooked chicken to it sometimes.

It's very much " suck it and see " I feed Bacchus Orijen Puppy and the manufacturers guidlines for his age and weight ( 8 mths / 18 kilos ) say 350 gr per day. I feed him 270gr a day and as you can see, he's not exactly wasting away, and he gets around 3hrs of exercise a day, sometimes more depending on which doggy pals we meet.

Totally agree. Each dog's metabolism can differ & it also depends on which food they are given.
