Help and advice needed!
I posted a message a few days ago when I was quite worried about my pup eating some chicken bones. Since then he had seemed ok but now I'm fairly sure he has a blockage somewhere. He is really straining to go to the toilet and when he eventually forces something out it's generally small amounts, very runny, and at great pace!
What can I do? Should I just wait to see if he passes it? Is there something I can feed him in the interim, or should I be feeding him at all?

I think a trip to the vets is on order just to be safe Hun, I'd say the bone could've constipated him but not if he's got runny poos. What colour are the poos? What have you been feeding him since?

They've been really dark brown. He seems bright enough still so I'm not sure I want to rush him to the vet just yet. I haven't fed him since lunch (raw beef mince and chicken breast) and I wasn't sure if I should feed or fast him?

I'm not sure, see how he is tomorrow? Too much bones usually causes light crumbly poo not runny and dark

Yeah but if he's not actually digested the bone because it's stuck somewhere then that might just be the other stuff he's been eating getting round it?

Re: Help and advice needed!
Bane has been like this before. Really struggles to go and then suddenly has mega runs...we kept him on meats for a few days with no bone, and added some plain scrambled egg.
How long have you been feeding raw for? And has he pooed normally since starting?

Re: Help and advice needed!
We've been on it for about a week and for the first 2-3 days his stools were perfect! Better than they'd ever been with anything else we'd tried feeding him. That all seems to have changed again and I'm not sure what's doing it.
It's so up and down and there are so many uncertainties that my fiancé is now having her doubts about this raw feeding but I really don't want to give it up.
Another unconnected raw question - do you factor in the weight of bone to their daily weight allowance of food?

I factor it over a month rather than a week, I work it out by each bowl, by eye so in the bowl a tenth of it is bone, does that make a sense. How is he today?

Ah so maybe it has been a certain meat that has set it off?
Have you started with just chicken or has he been having other meats too?
With the bone ratio, we haven't ever really measured it, the minces we get are roughly 10-15% bone anyway and we just try to even it out. So he can have just a meal of minces with bone, or we will add some tripe that has no bone and then give him a chicken wing/other boney piece. We just keep an eye on his stools to see if he is getting too much or too little You get used to it after a week or two!

Re: Help and advice needed!
Maybe some kind of cross between constipation from the bone and an upset tummy from the beef? We stuck to just chicken for the first two weeks the started adding new things. Still sometimes getting runny poos from lamb/beef
