does anybody knows a good quality bikes for around £750/£1000 i'm not going rush into anything i want to do lot of research.
the bloke i was talking to recommend this bike

Re: bike!
Our MATTS TFS TRAIL features the same technology as its XC relative with one big difference: Frame geometry has been adapted to intended use and a 120 mm travel fork, supported by a considerably lower top tube (see figure). In other words: The sportive genes of this bike can also be enjoyed with relaxed soul-rider attitude. Cool!
Thanks to adapted frame geometry with notably more standover height, outdoor adventures and laid-back city cruising are possible in equal measure. MATTS TFS TRAIL: A kind of All-Mountain hardtail with very sportive character!

Re: bike!
Years ago, I used to have a Townsend mountain bike. It had a chunky, oversized alloy frame, no suspension, basic V brakes, alloy wheels and chunky tyres. It was the best bike I ever had. It was nice to ride, easy, light, took a hell of a beating. I even had a crash with a car (nothing serious). I replaced the back wheel and it was as good as new. The frame was brilliant.
I used to ride everywhere on it. Some days I would ride 30-40 miles on it. I went through a few sets of tyres as well and that's not from skidding the back wheel. So that's a good couple of thousand miles.
I can't remember how much it was, but I know it was less than £300. Maybe even less than £200.
Then, I borrowed a friends bike for a while. It had full adjustable suspension, hydraulic disc brakes... It had the lot. I think it was a proper, professional downhill mountain bike.
It was the worst bike ever!
It was heavy, hard to ride (took a LOT of effort), uncomfortable...
It was an Orange Patriot. Over £2000 worth of bike.
So for me, If you look after a cheap(ish) bike doing the maintenance properly and using proper lubricants where needed, it will last a long time.
Sorry, I don't agree with spending loads on a bike, unless its made out of proper composites.

Re: bike!
lol
Nope. I only cleaned it if it got really muddy. That was just with a hose pipe and a soft car brush.
I also used Autoglym bodywork shampoo. Rinse off. Then wipe dry. Apply Autoglym resin polish (Red label). Leave in the sun for at least an hour, then buff the polish off. That's it. Nice shiny bike
Then just spray the chain and sprockets with motor bike chain lube and use a teflon based lube on the cables.
Every 6 months (ish), strip it down, wash the bearings, sprockets, chain, crank, wheel bearings...with an engine de-greaser. Dry, then re-grease with either lithium grease, graphite grease or Car CV grease.
You know the ratchet in the back wheel sprocket? You could never hear mine, but it never stopped working Also, the gears never slipped.
