out on the bike again
no video this time... me being a dumbass forgot to press record. what will disapoint you more about that is that i fell off when we stopped turned and the gangline snagged on the left brake leaver . they shot off and the handle bars wrenched right and off i came being dragged along the floor holding onto one handle lol. no injuries apart from a bruised pride and a bit of a sore chest.
this week was much better at starting than last and they are getting a real feel for it now, it was a tad warm so i wasnt going to run them for long. but in the end i stopped it outright while warming up the muscles when i noticed laskas mouth was full of blood and her legs were splatterd with it. even though she has had a full going over by the vet panic set in and when i checked her over found that she had bitten her tongue when she was seeing off a dog that ran over to see what was going on.... cant tell you how releived i was. packed the bike up and did another couple of miles just walking to wind them down
so today we did just under a mile in the warmup which to be fair was enough and they hit 16.4mph free wheeling without being pushed. it was on grass today as well no mud but a few steep climbs
i think something learned from today, early starts on a saturday when its cooler and something to attach the bike to me if i fall off. cant wait to see what max speed is when they are fully going for it.
Again they did themselves proud and have had a massive dinner with lots of high protien goodies and are now both spark out. have realy got the bug for bikejoring, its really a great thing to do and when we stop both dogs fuss like mad lol. you can see our somewhat short run today in the image below with stats etc.

It sounds like the dogs are enjoying it anyway Did you manage to get them to stop quite quickly or were you dragged a good way?
Glad you not hurt. Shame about the vid, could have got £250 from YBF, would have paid towards some more equipment!

it was one of those slow mo moments. we turned, i shouted "hike" at the very same time i noticed that the gangline was on the brake leaver due to the 180 degree turn. the dogs shot forward the bike went hard right from under me and i hit the deck holding onto one handle shouting stop. the next thing marley was licking my face and wagging his backside off. got back on and off we went again...although today my chest and hip has been killing me.
tbh i cant fault the dogs at all, they were brilliant and im so so proud of them.
it seems that when they are doing a bit of work for you they love it but are so in tune with how your feeling to make sure they are doing a good job.
ive done so much resarch into working dogs and really believe the following is true regardless of breed and not just sibes,
"Siberians are very sensitive to human mood swings, they reflect their pack leader’s mood
in their performance. They know when they have done well and when things have not
gone to plan. The performance of a team of Siberians will be positively or negatively
influenced by the driver’s mood. A feature of the most successful of teams is the
wonderful close relationship between driver and dogs, with the driver being super-
sensitive to the individual dog’s needs."
but what made me laugh was this line, its so true through life not just dogs, it was about gleening info out of experianced mushers.
"We are born with two ears and one mouth and the acquisition of knowledge is best
pursued in using those senses in that proportion. Often, the best information is to be gleaned
from the quietest individual. Watch and learn from the successful, bearing in mind that ’empty
vessels can make the most noise’!"
ive heard it somewhere before and think it is so true.
