Intolerance to James Wellbeloved food?
So after changing to James Wellbeloved because the vet suggested it I think it's actually made him really ill. He had a bag of the turkey and rice version which was ok but far from perfect, I started him on the white fish version. The next day was the day he was seriously ill with diarrhea and vomiting and we were really worried about him. He couldn't keep anything down and wouldn't even drink water.
Anyway, he felt better after a day and we fed him only cooked chicken and rice. He seemed back to normal and his stools were solid, until I started mixing in some of the James Wellbeloved fish meal again. Today the diarrhea is back. There's no sickness and it's definitely not as bad as it was but it must be the food, right?
Anyone else had any problems with this brand?

Re: Intolerance to James Wellbeloved food?
Did you change him over slowly to james wellbeloved from whatever he was on before that? It's recommended that it take a period of 7-10 days to change foods, adding a little more of the new to the old each day until they are completely on the new. Not changing slowly can cause tummy upsets, runny stools etc.

Would that apply to changing between the turkey and fish versions of the same brand?

No not between versions. Flo is on Wainwright's wet & JWB kibble but have never heard anything bad about JWB. I guess he could be intolerant to that food and would suggest trying to switch gradually until you work out what's right for him.

Are you sure it's the food he may be reacting too ? Has he had anything else different to eat or picked up anything while out on walkies that may have caused the upset ?

I'm pretty sure. As soon as we started mixing the meal in with the plain rice and chicken his stomach got upset again. As for eating stuff while he's out - most likely yeah! He seems to eat anything and he's constantly chewing on pieces of wood!

Hm. I have known of intolerances to the food, just difficult to know exactly what it is that irritating him in it! Maybe it's a dodgy batch?!
