HELP WHATS MY DOG CROSS WITH ?

hi all just wandering what you people think my beau is crossed with beacuse when we brought her in december she was advertised sbt but the size of her i dont think shes full sbt and when i take her out ive had a few people ask what breed is her a couple of people asked if she was a bull which has panicked us a bit so what you guys think

I'm rubbish at guessing crosses, maybe mastiff or boxer?

for the size i would go with staffy x french mastiff

I wouldnt be very good but she looks just like my friends pitbull, i showed the picture to my girlfriend and she tought it was my friends dog.

the pit photo to me has an smaller head which make me think it's an staffy x french mastiff

I think she's probably a mix of a few breeds rather than just two. She's fairly lean looking for a bull breed. Doesn't look like any pit bull that I've ever worked with, and I've worked with a few

i'm just guesting with staffy x french mastiff, could be bull terrier with an french mastiff could be boxer x french mastiff there defo half freach mastiff in her IMO

id go mastiff of some sort as well, lookes like a young version of riley, claires dog. too heavy built for a pit bearing in mind its still a pup as well, that chest is going to get massive and the head has some growing to do yet.

seems anything bully breed must have pit in it somewhere these days according to the "street experts" that probably couldnt point out a pitty in a line up anyway.
And yes i agree with Steve and others about red nose, more pits have black than red and lots of breeds have red noses cropping up now and then.

I can see mastiff but her head doesn't seem wide enough? All of the mastiffs that I've worked with have had heads like bears. I reckon mastiff for colouring, boxer for frame and a little staffie in there somewhere, maybe even a little sight hound. I'm asked all the time if Biscuit is a pit bull. Usually by no brainer early twenties "blokes" who think they're breed experts (with no training). Although, my last landlord was adamant that she was "one of those illegal breeds." But she's tiny, I think it's her colouring. You've asked this question a few times, try to stop worrying. Until you have a DLO officer on your doorstep, I highly doubt you ever will, you're fine. Keep her out of trouble, and for god sake don't tell anyone that you think she may be a pit bull. If she was a pit bull I'm sure the breeders would have been quite proud of that fact, sounds like you've got the result of a mating of two crossbreed dogs to me!

with cross breeds they never the same, you could have an mastiff looking one but small, staffy looking but huge, inbetween and so on

it is nerve wracking, the system is very backwards. When I took bis on I was really worried that I'd be constantly watched/stopped because she did have to have a breed test in kennels as dog wardens thought she may be type, but even after that I haven't had a single problem. I've had 3 DLO officers in a room and none could agree on one dog. Also had two dogs that looked very similar to me, one was PTS for type, and one adopted out! It makes no sense, anything could be classed as type now a days, it's been clearly stated that they're using it as population control within kennels settings, but not as common out of kennels. Be responsible with her and I'm sure you'll have no problems hope your wife can put her mind at rest too! X

Not yet mate but remember its a female and only a six month old cross. both mine have sibe dads and staffy mums yet look quite different especially the heads,but also in body, my lass looks more bully while marley is more sptiz. its the chest and gate that did it for me which is the spit of riley, at 6 months she has so much more growing to do as well, especially in the head department.

Oh I thought she was a year! She looks bloody massive for 6 months! All very true though crossbreeds are awesome, it's so interesting how different characteristics manifest themselves. Face on she looks like my friends ridgeback at the moment. Did you not see parents Mark?

I agree about the dog that Hargar posted, looks a lot like an American Bulldog called Gizmo that I used to work with wouldn't say that's a pit bull in a million years personally.

Does she behave well and do you love her - that's what matters.

She is definitely a bit of a mix.

Where did you find her and did you ever see her parents/ siblings? Do you know anything about her background?

As for pit bull - I don't think there is a single staffy owner who has rescued their dog who doesn't get the fear suddenly that their dog is a pitty. I got obsessed with looking on google images trying to work out exactly what mine was, and worrying about it. I would have done d n a test until was told they are v vague etc.

Yes and I've been " informed" by passers-by that he is a pit bull but the other people say oh he's definitely got Labrador in him. I have also found that as he has grown and aged he is a different shape now. Still v v muscly with a massive head but apparently now he "no longer looks like a pitbull"

Could you post a picture of her whole body from the side, in profile? And how tall is she? Does she like water, can she swim, what is her coat like - coarse hair or v soft? Can she jump high? Is she a guard dog type? What is she like with other dogs?

I think you just have to be relaxed and confident when people start telling you what breed she is. The truth is you will never really know.

i completely agree defo looks like theres some american bulldog in there its so hard to tell from a few pics though! chester is a american bulldog x staffy hes bigger than a staffy looks am in so many ways! research into some of the traits am have and youll defo know as they r very destinctive in some behaviours! absolutely gorgeous looking and if am in there somewhere extremely loyal and protective! i dont see pitbull i walk past police all the time with chester and they dont bat an eye! dont ever give them reason to!!

also i 2 was told chester was a staffy so if your lucky and shes an am staffy x then shouldnt grow to big! chesters back legs are still trying to catch up with his beefy front legs hes still growing and hell be 3 in oct but he had spurts when i thought oh my god hes going to be huge but then theyd stop! still they are a very strong breed be a responsible dog owner and youll be fine

her body is massive and built so id say french mastiff aswell because apbt's are slim lean and ripped like the picture steve showed
