my bitch stella and male staffy bud are a great bunch of dogs but a problem i cant seem to calm is the fact when they both run around the fields stella will ram the male dog and when he has a plastic bottle in his mouth she sometimes runs alongside him and nips his ear. Also stella if she sees a dog in the distant will run at great speed towards the other dog and totally ignores me shouting...she is a really obedient dog apart from that....now bud since his castration will bark and run up to dogs and bark really badly and is quite aggressive...he does not do this when he has his plastic bottle in his mouth. When i take them out for a walk bud will run around like a maniac searching for a bottle to chew on which is like a pacifier for him...also he keeps head-butting open my bedroom door all the time and its driving me nuts...then he lies behind me on the bed and is calm....any advice on these problems guys would be great...thx in advance, bill

I think you need to go back to basics & work on their recall! Try using a long line so that if they won't come back you can real them in!

When did you get him castrated? Males sometimes become a little aggressive after castration, although it often doesn't last long. Try to introduce him calmly to other dogs & see if it helps. Don't let him just run at them barking, as it'll get him into trouble!

As far as the bedroom door goes, you just have to shut the door properly so that he can't get in. Either that, or move his bed into your room! Big Grin We have a baby gate rigged up so that we can have our bedroom door open, but Dempsey can't get in (he could jump the gate, I suppose, but he's too lazy!). Laughing

its been 2 months since the castration, hes got better just not with other dogs off the lead....but saying that hes very good with other dogs at other times..i will just have to invest i suppose in those really long wind back leads.

Does anyone else have dogs that are mad about a particular object? Bud is obsessed with plastic bottles and will search bushes for ages...maybe he is into recycling...lol

Woody isnt obsessed with any particular object but my sisters staff is hysterical. she is 14 now and for probably the last 10 years as soon as they get to the beach she will search for a sizeable stone to carry in her mouth - and with exact timing she drops it as soon as they step foot off the beach!
