Positive encounter ?
Was walking Flo along a wooded path today, which was quiet narrow, when we rounded a corner and walked straight into 3 other dog walkers with their dogs stood chatting. This shouldn't have been a problem as Flo had her stick and was walking happily through the gathering.
That is until the Pup of the group (an Alsatian and very cute) decided to bound up to Flo. Ordinarily she would have continued without even looking but she dropped her stick, bowed and went straight in to play with the Pup.
I could see that it was play as her hackles were down but, I know Flo, the Pup owner obviously didn't and I was ready for the shouting/abuse etc as I went to pull her away (a foot from me) when the Pup owner suddenly says "Leave them to it" !
I was rather taken aback and said that Flo wasn't bearing her teeth aggressively or anything just wanted to play. The owner went on to say that her Pup needed to learn that he wasn't the top dog outside as he thinks he is in the home and that Flo was doing great with the Pup and teaching it.
Well, I was chuffed to get that response and not the usual tirade and it was so funny seeing the Pup trying to hide behind his owners legs, all in all a positive encounter.
