What Breed is my dog?

This is my female dog Amber, which i love very much! I got her from a young couple who lived in a one room flat and couldnt look after her. She was 11 weeks old when i took her in. I had only ever had spainel type breeds so had no idea about staffys or similar breeds. We were told Amber is a Staffordshire bull terrier, but have been stopped many times by people saying she isnt. I dont mind what she is , she is the most loveable loyal dog ever. I was just wondering what you guys think? We loved her personality that much, we got her a friend staffy called Alfie.

From my understanding, SBTs should always have a black nose (if I'm wrong someone please correct me).

Shona amber is just like my beau and we had funny looks off people few people have asked if shes a pit bull we said no shes a staffie were worried now with all these questions asked help needed plz to put our minds at rest what should we do!

she looks like a cross to me but does it really matter? she is gorgeous and as long as she is loved then just ignore the staffy snobs.

She does look like a cross, how much does she weigh/how tall is she? And what's her personality like? Vizsla's can have a reddy coloured nose, may be 3/4 staffie with a small amount of strong genes from another breed which has brought out the colouring. I had a dog identical to yours in kennels who passed the pit bull test and was happily rehomed. People will automatically say "type" but there are an awful lot of different breeds that they're more likely to be crossed with.

Looking again I'm more likely go with French mastiff actually

Thanks for your replies Amber is around 18 inches tall,not too sure about her weight. Her personality is lovely, she loves cuddling and is quite lazy an always has to sit on peoples knee or sleep on them. She loves playing tug of war with my other staffy. With other dogs she meets, she rolls onto her back and wags her tail. A few dogs have snapped at her, all she does is jumps an runs back to me haha
We have had a few people call her a pitbull, and also people saying she looks like a mastiff. Very interesting hearing your replies We love her no matter what.

Try not to worry, I'm always asked if Biscuit is a pit bull and she's clearly not. Most people couldn't pick a pit bull out of a lineup and type is so varied now, anything from a Labrador cross to a terrier cross could be classed as type. She sounds like a very sweet little lady, keep her out of trouble and I'm sure she'll be just fine

She is stunning, who cares what type she is, so long as shes happy. The name Amber totally suits her to the ground.

She looks like she might have a bit of Dogue de Bordeaux in her. She is gorgeous  

I`m useless at guessing but she is lovely and great photos. My Lula does not stay still long enough for me to get a good picture

Def not a pit but sure its another bully breed cross as the frame and head is def bully. Although not 100% acurate most bull bread crosses have a frame and head of the cross as the bully genes seem quite dilute in comparison. Spitz especialy have dominate traits as do spaniels etc. Labs however dilute over bull breed genes and can look like big crosses. I hazard a guess and say one of the smaller breed mastiffs and staff.

Don't worry about the Pit thing.. Definately more Staff there and gorgeous anyways.

Hey This is little Biscuit





As you can see, she's clearly not a pit bull! But I've been asked twice in the last week if she is and where I bought her, and she was under testing for 2 weeks in kennels to decide if she's type. She's big for a staffie, but then, most are nowadays!

I guess it's all part of her charm that you will probably never know for sure what she is crossed with. According to Rockys paperwork from the rescue centre he is apparently a SBT cross Border Collie although most people would say SBT cross labrador. We have often seen other breeds of dogs and thought "I wonder if that's what Rocky is crossed with"   we even thought about Patterdale at one time, it's great fun to keep guessing though
