Staffy, cats and 2 ducks
I have an English staffy who thinks she is indestructible. Jaz is going to be six months on the 21st of April 2014, but she is extremely boisterous. She insists of jumping on people, and licking their feet and tugging at their clothes. No amount of "leave" will work. We've tried the leash, tried socialising, she actually couldn't care. She would run into the street and tease me by letting me get close as though she will comply, and then darting off up the road. She wants (WANTS wants WANTS) to tackle every dog in the neighbourhood while they are behind their gates and she chases the wild monkeys half way up the tree. She's a bit of a coward though because when the monkeys chase her she vanishes into the property only to emerge shyly, waiting to see if she can chase one that isn't quite looking. She gets on fine with the sphynx cats, and chases her tail all the time. She exhausts me just to look at her, yet we love her. She digs up everything in sight and has eaten my rare tulip bulbs and others which I thought would definitely harm her (they haven't) and even eats out the center of the thousands of bromeliads which grow wild everywhere.
Trouble is, I've now got two ducks, and I don't know how this is going to work out. So far they are in doors. But ducks must wander, (and I don't want the house smelling like a barn)... any advice or tips on either helping Jaz to calm down or helping her socialise with the ducks is very welcome.
She will not take a leash and runs away from it, hence we battle to get her for walks. I've always had Rottweilers, and compared to them, she is tazmanian devil to their sleeping beauties.

Thanks Kathy. I've been looking through the FAQ's and remembered that I have a body leash; going to see if that will work..

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me
Tail chasing is something that should be discouraged as this can lead to serious behavioural issues, please see the link below. Try to distract her with a toy if possible:

Re: Staffy, cats and 2 ducks
Thank you. I've gone to the link. Jazz has over 2 and a half thousand square meters to run in, so being cooped up isn't an issue. She does however spend quite a bit of time alone as we work in the day and there's only the tenant and the cleaning lady there (whom she adores). I noticed that when I arrive at home and I pet her, she will enjoy the petting and then immediately take to chasing the tail. Will do a little more research. She is disinterested in normal play activities that we have always done, like playing fetch or running down the driveway. She hunts down the crabs and the frogs from the river; I'm hoping she will grow out of the behaviour.. you think?

Re: Staffy, cats and 2 ducks
Welcome from Bane and I! She sounds like a right little monster with a lot of energy!
As for the ducks, it might be best to keep them penned off somewhere in the garden. My parents Staff was used to their chickens so never bothers them, but Bane found out the other day that they are food

Re: Staffy, cats and 2 ducks
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I bought a new body leash and have been walking Jazz every day. We finish the walk with a visit to the ducks. (she stays on the leash). Day 3 she stopped going mad, actually walked in and sat looking at them, just looking, no frown, no aggression. I explained they are family (every day). So far things are looking better. She hates bathing but really needed it! I've updated our pic with one taken yesterday. She eats well and eats good quality dog food but to my mind she's looking a bit thin.
