I use an ancol non pull harness with mine and its great i feel much more able to cope with the pulling (mine is a year now).
Training class doesnt allow it tho they said cos they r strong dogs the harness only builds on the chest muscles.

Tip used to be a bad puller and slipped her collar we got her a non slip collar that helped a lot. We used a harness with our Rottie but she tried emitating a sled dog so we stopped using it. When we got Tip we decided not to use a harness. She is a strong girl and we didn't want a repeat of our situation with Sasha (the Rottie) so can't be much help.
