Looking to volunteer
Hey all,
I've been scouring the internet looking for rescue centres nearby and so far having no luck at all. I'm trying to find one nearby London/Essex area and am willing to get involved in what ever is needed although I work a shift pattern so it will be all different days/time constantly. Definitely looking to get involved in taking the pooches for walks, am able to do photography, websites, advertising etc.
I've searched for Staffie rescue homes as the most loving breed seems to be the most down trodden but as I love all dogs I'm not too fussed really as long as I'm able to help some poor little doggie until they find a loving home.
If there is anyone on here that needs someone, feel free to give me a shout or if you know of any rescue homes in need!
Thanks

Re: Looking to volunteer
Not half as many as you would think. They all seem to be West London and as I'm currently living in the East and soon to be moving out to Essex it would most likely take me nearly 2 hours by car to get anywhere which would kill me paying for fuel and would mean I spend more time traveling than with the dogsSazzle wrote:There must be tons in London surely?

Re: Looking to volunteer
There must be something nearer Johnny.. I know that BDCH has a place near Brands Hatch if that's any use to you.
Have to say, I admire your willingness to get in and get involved. I hope it gives you something after your recent loss.

Re: Looking to volunteer
Thanks Ian, I've sent a few emails off to a couple in Essex and now waiting to hear back. I've done a lot of charity runs etc for Dogs Trust, Battersea and the RSPCA in the past but since I've lost poor Mase I'd like to get involved at a different level, helping the dogs practically and hope to brighten their day as much as they brighten mine.-Ian- wrote:There must be something nearer Johnny.. Re: Looking to volunteer
I've tried Battersea, they only have a vacancy for someone to work in an office doing bits to get corporate sponsorship etc and has no involvements with any of the dogs there at all.Kathy wrote:Is Battersea anywhere near you ?

PDSA is quite similar unfortunately, only places for workers in their charity shops etc.
I have no interest in the above, although overall it's helping the organisation I just want to be involved in more of a labour role, helping to keep the kennels clean, walking the dogs, training them etc.
Having no luck at all at the min....

Re: Looking to volunteer
May be a bit early yet, but when you're ready have you considered fostering? Lots of kennels are desperate for foster carers!

How about Wood Green is that anywhere near you ?
http://www.woodgreen.org.uk/about/visit_us/london
Maybe do a search on line I'm sure there must be something in your area, you may well end up looking at smaller organisations. Do you recieve a local newspaper maybe check in there.

No Kathy I've managed to find one called Acres Way, in Thundersley, Essex http://www.acresway.co.uk/index.phpKathy wrote:How about Wood Green is that anywhere near you ?
