Dap spray
Hi
Zara gets quite stressed on car journeys, shaking and panting. Is there any way I could help her over come this. Would it be with worth getting some dap spray? She was great in the car at first then one time she was sick and since then she just doesn't like it. I feel so sorry for her as like taking her to nice places for walks and want to take her to the coast now the weather is picking up. Any advise appreciated. Thanks

Re: Dap spray
The DAP spray works well for Rocky, she may also get travel/motion sickness, try some ginger chews they are great for upset tummies, they are usually available in health food shops and in a small green box like this:

Re: Dap spray
Thank you Kathy. I'm going to order some dap spray and try the ginger chews. Nothing worse than travel sickness.

Re: Dap spray
Thanks Hayley. I hope so too. I feel so guilty when she's clearly distressed and really want to her over come this. Is it quite common for staffys not to like the car?

Re: Dap spray
I had this exact problem with Zeus when he first start going into my car. The first few times he'd vomit all over the place and he'd be shaking alot etc.
I then started to take him into the car when it was just parked up and let him sniff around, explore etc, hoping that we would figure it's harmless. I done this for 5/10 minutes a day, for about a week. I then started to take him on really short round the block journeys, slowly increasing them longer and longer.. in the end, he got the hang of it and was fine.
I also found that when you do take them in the car, try going to a happy place, a place they enjoy, e.g. a park. That way they'll associate the car with a happy place.
Maybe try these options first? He now loves going in the car because 99% of the time, he knows he's going to the local park!
