Hey all.
So had pup well nearly adult :'( at the vet for her kennel cough vacc so she can start new training class. Vet said shes looking great and everything and wel be gettin her speyed soon.
Shes so strange tho shes so fussy with food shes never wolfs it down and she eats some then looks about. I keep thinking shes more like a rescue dog with her strange issues.
Im really hoping these classes work as my mum cant stand the barking and whining all the time and the bad behaviour...my nephew was up with my brother one day and he is 4 and my mum had to put her in the crate as she wanted to be on top of my nephew but she screamed her head off and my brother left Moaning about how bad tht is. She also decided to try and go for a jogger and a bike which has me so worried....will she ever be able to get off lead???

It seems everyone is against her in the family as shes so badly behaved! I dont want her to have to be rehomed but its getting bad.
The mouthing at nearly 11 months is shocking and we have tried everything thts been recommended but she wants to mouth everyone. We even seen some herbal calming treatments tht we wondered if we should try

I see my friends with their small dogs and they have it so easy. They can be off lead, dont jump up on strangers and they havent had training! Mine does the sit. Stay lie down etc etc but thn is really bad

Iv never had a staffy so is it normal or is she maybe just not right from being the only 1 in litter.

What do you feed her ? Sometimes food can have a large part to play on a dogs behaviour. Maybe try something from the recommended list below, Rocky has Barking Heads and we have seen an improvement in his behaviour since he has been eating this food:

While out on walks have you tried some basic training with her on a long training lead, this may well be of benefit as you maintain control and she can have a run around. Maybe take a favourite toy or some small treats out with and have a go at basic commands, always try to end with something she can do well.

She gets really excited when given a long lead and she barks and growls and hangs from lead and jumps up and mouths.

She just wont eat dry food at all...iv done dog nutrition courses before and i know dry is really good but she just picks at it and wont eat. Shes been gettig nature diet trays because as wet food goes its good.
Weve tried james well beloved, burns, royal canin (which she likes ok but its high in protein and it made her more hyped and as its not hypoallergenic she itched a bit)
I love her, when shes good shes great but its so hard all the times between!!

With the dry food, did you try adding some water to it, not too much? If you do this about 10 minutes before you give it to her it will soften it. Just a thought she may prefer it like that.

I also mix tuna into Kodas dry good as an enticer, and a smidge of olive oil. It may be diet related?

maybe a dvd would help

saw this while watching the Ttouch vids

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this looks like clips from the dvd ..
BULLY FOR YOU (Trish King) - YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI4UejWcK8Q
the dvd ..
Tawzer Dog Bully Breeds - DVDs
http://www.tawzerdog.com/dvds/bully-breeds.html
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

'Lady' is quite mouthy when she's playing or wanting to say 'hello'
play biting .. jumping up and grabbing at my jacket ..
but .. it be just me 'n her in this house .. i'm the only one who has to deal with it
and .. i don't mind it ( to a point ;-) ..
part of our 'play' .. is chasing my hands .. so can't blame her if i sometimes encourage it :-)

as for friends and neighbours .. well they know what she's like ..
oddly for some reason she doesn't get too mouthy with them

have read that .. 'humans use their hands whereas dogs use their mouths' ..

'Lady' used to attack my feet when i lay down 'n wearing my slippers / sometimes shoes
i didn't like that .. and started to to say "no" then grab her harness and move her away ..
at some point she stopped attacking my feet ..
and besides .. having her favourite chew toy to hand .. is a helpful distraction ..
( she can't resist her kong bone and wubba toys :-)

there certainly does seem to be a connection between type-of-food .. and behaviour ..
( as has been mentioned often on these pages )
