Question about food.
Lola has stopped eating her breakfast yet she will eat all her tea, is this normal. I would of thought if she hadn't eaten all night she would be ravenous in the morning, but nope she won't eat it, even if left down she won't even nibble at it.
She seems well in herself and is thriving and not losing weight, which is strange aswell.
Should I give her more then at her tea time, but won't this make her stomach over stretched?

Re: Question about food.
What food are you feeding Lola?
Also is it wet or dry food?
If you are feeding just dry food, Mix a bit of hot water in and let it cool a bit.
Prince is quite fussy. I ran out of wet food the other day, so gave him a double helping of just dry food. He just sniffed at it then walked away. So I mixed in some hot water and let it cool. It was gone in seconds
You could go with 1 big meal per day, but I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Re: Question about food.
i wouldnt worry, dogs are scavengers and will not let themself strave to death, i would put her food down in the morning and lift it up again after 40mins then do the same with her later feed. If she starts to lose more weight than u would like then increase her evening feed, just see how it goes x

Re: Question about food.
She's on beta dry food Pete and she's been fine with it, maybe she is getting bored of it, I may try the hot water, but it's not something I didn't want to introduce at this age tbh.
Carly I take it up about that time in the morning, although after it happening for about a week now I did try and see if she would eat it later, but that didn't work.
I'm not overly concerned it just seems weird that she will eat her tea and not her breakfast. And I don't really want her to become a one meal dog especially at 7 months.
Oh the joys of having a staffie and their complicated eating habits

Re: Question about food.
I have bought beta before till I could decided roughly what food I was going to keep Tilly on.To say the least its a bad dog food imo.
You could try making a chicken broth by boiling some chicken legs etc.Add that to her food and each meal add less and less of the broth. This worked for me.
You could try adding a bit of tuna of something you know she will think is yummy to her morning meals.
Or you could try what blaze has said and don't give her anything else just offer her, her dinner in the morning and at night.

My staffy who is about the same age as yours only eats a little bit of her breakfast and has most of her food intake in the afternoon. She eats her dinner then soon goes asleep.Which I think is a good thing. She's doing well imo.
A healthy Dog should regulate themselves.

If your not overly worried and she is still healthy and fit in herslf then I wouldn't really bother doing anything! Mine is a piglet, she'd eat and eat and eat if I let her! There all different!! As blaze said they won't let themselves starve lol, maybe she just isn't a morning dog

Re: Question about food.
You could always try some tripe mince in the morning, or even some dried tripe. It smells disgusting, but dogs often love it!
If you do try it, keep an eye on her weight, as tripe piles on pounds quite quickly.

Re: Question about food.
About the age Lola is at a lot of dogs stop eating one of their meals. It may just be that shes not hungry! however shes only a baby still and its better for her energy levels and nutrition if she eats two meals per day so might be worth trying what others have suggested to get her to chomp her breakfast.
