I give a spoon full as it is on top of there food, or mixed with some yogurt etc, you don't need to do anything special with it!

Re: Turmeric for dogs
I give it everyday however you could start with a couple of times a week, and increase, once he gets a taste for it. He might not like the taste I know Chance adores it and Harvey just doesn't mind but doesn't love it.
As with everything make sure Vin has plenty of water to drink should he want to

Re: Turmeric for dogs
The dosage guide form the above article for those who don't want to read it all
The suggested dosage is approximately 15 to 20 mg per pound of body weight in dogs, 150-200mg for cats. A simpler way of looking at it is an 1/8 to a 1/4 teaspoon per day, for every 10lbs of dog weight. Make sure your pet has lots of water to ensure that they don’t get constipated.

Re: Turmeric for dogs
According to an Aussie vet, he recommends feeding it this way to get the very best out of turmeric, and ensure the body absorbs as much as possible
So i shall try alternating this with just sprinkling it over their food I think
For dogs a starting point might be as little as a ¼ of a teaspoon to 1 rounded teaspoon, with some linseed food oil, or coconut or olive oil and a few, 3 to 5grinds of black pepper.

Re: Turmeric for dogs
Well who would have thought?? Because of my health issues I was recommended Turmeric capsules (at 2000mg a day!) as its not only a natural anti-inflammatory (like Ibuprofen which I can't take!) but it helps digestion, skin and helps lessen the side effects of a few of my meds! I hadn't even considered it for my health let alone my dogs! We are on a strict elimination diet at the moment but as soon as he starts getting back on his feet I'll give it a go! xx
