Kong fillings
What do your dogs like in their kongs?
Alfie usually has things like sweet potato, peanut butter and dog treats. Any other ideas just for a change for him?
Thanks

Re: Kong fillings
Rocky seems to have gone off his Kong lately, maybe we need some other ideas of things to put in there.

Re: Kong fillings
Thanks Hayley. Had a banana that needed using, so just mashed it with some peanut butter and put in freezer so hopefully will last longer.
Haven't tried mince yet either thanks.
What do you give Rocky Kathy?

Re: Kong fillings
I tried lovely mashed banana but my two weren't impressed - they love fat free, natural yoghurt; peanutbutter; viennas; cheese; biscuits; mince and just plain water or even water flavoured with a tiny bit of gravy and frozen.

Re: Kong fillings
What are viennas Lisa?
Ooh the gravy water sounds great (remind me in our summer ) would never have thought of that in a kong, thanks.

Ah, viennas are the pink sausages With the gravy, I only put a tiny bit in as it is salty - but it makes a change from plain ice

We put some of his kibble in there and peanut butter then freeze it, I think he has just got bored with it. May try something different sometime with him.

Re: Kong fillings
I made special birthday kongs for Roxy and Vinny tonight: plugged the little hole with a small piece of cheese, half filled the rest with baby food and topped with pieces of viennas and froze. It's taking them ages to get through it and they are determined - they're loving it

Aww bless them, they are having a lovely party. Did they manage to eat all the birthday cake?

Re: Kong fillings
Not that good Sue, took him to vets last nite panicked about this disease that's come up.
He has a nasty lesion on his face but it clears up and scabs but he keeps knocking it off! Had a Lepto booster jab and a stronghold to put on him she seems to think its just a skin allergy. If doesn't get any better will have to have a skin scrape xxx

Re: Kong fillings
Aw bless him. It sounds as if he is just keeping it going by picking his scabs and hopefully nothing worse. Just don't want it to get infected, so hard to get them to leave things alone though. Funnily enough had something similar with my son recently!
Love to Vinnie. Stop picking!

Re: Kong fillings
Lol Sue yes I think what happens the scab forms and becomes tight which in turn irritates him then he picks it off! Mind you he never touched it last night maybe the penny has dropped that if he picks it its a vet trip which he hates! xx

Nico usually has some mash, kibble, wee bit of gravy and a few treats just to make it harder ( all frozen). I'm an evil mummy!!

I but some liver treats in banes's but OMG, the smell that came out the other end, cleared the room in seconds lol. Does cooked mince make them have smelly wind?

It shouldn't do! What type of mince? Maybe that type of meat doesn't agree with him?

This may sound stupid but is it just the big rubber kong with a hole in both ends? And pack it full off food?
