Dogs getting too muddy to sit anywhere else but in the boot at the moment...
And do I really have to spend £120?!
(I drive a small car - Honda Jazz)
Thank you!

Don't know about a boot cover but Ella recommends this rear seat cover if that's any help:

Hello - I meant a sort of grill that stops the dogs jumping from the boot to the front of the car.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good boot guard for the car?
I have one that attaches to the headrest of the back seats from Halfords for less than £60. Fits perfect in my Fiesta the guard itself is sturdy enough but ledger soon discovered that he could tilt it then climb over (partly because the fiesta rear seats are at a slant so the lower part of the guard isn't flush against them) I have fixed that issue by having the headrest extended fully up and so far despite trying he hasn't got through it
Long term tho I am going to save for a custom built cage so I can leave the boot open at agility comps but keep him secure

Re: Can anyone recommend a good boot guard for the car?
I'm looking to buy one of these for Thistle, because she chewed all my wiring in the boot, and my car boot is to small for her crate. Hope the link works.

We have the Mont Blanc K9 Headrest guard, it's been great, doesn't rattle and is very sturdy. Comes in around the £60 mark and is easy to take out and replace when needed (we switch it between both our cars).

+1 for the shaped dog crate. They are much safer in the event of an accident. A policeman friend of mine has recently been to an accident where the car overturned with a dog in the boot. The spare wheel came out and the dog was killed.

Thats so upsetting. I have Pixee in the boot now, and I still worry in case someone runs into the back of the car.
As for a guard, if you are handy with a hammer, try making a frame and put some safe chicken wire on it, and try and secure it to your car, should not cost much to do.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good boot guard for the car?
Hello everyone, thank you for your thoughts and advice. I have just found a second hand one taylor-made for a Honda on Ebay, and bought it. I will let you know whether they're any good (it's a Travall dog guard - usually £110, or something like that).
Nuala: just to let you know, Thistle is the cutest name for a dog. Did you choose it?

Should be great, I had a custom Barjo guard in my old focus sadly about an inch too big for the fiesta and I can't afford +£200 for just a guard at the moment

Hi Rupert, yes I did chose, it, I've had her from 8 weeks, she can be a bit prickly, and she's the colour of a blue Thistle.....sort of :-) good luck with the gurad, can't say I agree with the chicken wire thing, I can see a dogs teeth getting caught, just saying.
