Hello there, soon to be new owner seeking small bit of advice :)
Hello everyone,
I did post most of this post in the 'new members' section but thought id post it in here to to get maximum exposure..
My English Bull Terrier (Tia) who is 13 weeks old will be in her new home this Saturday, at first yes I will carry on with what she is being fed which is Dry and the odd raw chicken wing.
My question from the other thread was:
''''Well atm my train of thought is heading towards raw chicken in the morning which is what she is eating now anyway (1chicken wing) then possibly some good dry food (haven't decided on brand as still researching) mixed up with either vegetables, fruit or fish.
I'm still trying to see if there are any disadvantages with this setup..I honestly don't see a problem with this breed having raw meats as long as they are the correct ones with the odd sprinkle of veg and the usual vinegar in the water (obviously not the normal stuff), but I have a cat which I'm hoping wont be an issue, however something seems very wrong with feeding her a completely raw diet with my cat roaming around the house!.
I'm hoping my choices are Okay, they seem to be a good mix of what most owners are doing.''''
Does this seem Ok, any changes that I should consider?
Thanks in advance

Personally rather than mixing raw and dry I would go for one or the other If you do decide to feed both just make sure the meals as far enough apart not to cause an upset tummy.

I know you can feed one of one and one of another which is fine as saz said so long as they're not fed together which I think you realise, remember puppies at 13 weeks should be fed several times a day, and I'm not sure there will be enough time between meals to digest. How often is the breeder feeding her now?

Hi,
Thanks for the replies and tbh seems to be he general feeling I'm getting too..
Not sure what the feed program is, I did ask along with lots of other questions and have forgot, il get all this info again on Saturday once I pick her up, I'm pretty sure it was couple times a day with the mix and a chicken wing in the morning or maybe a main feed in the morning and evening with the chicken midday but that was the combo for sure..
Since starting this thread I'm really starting to look into the BARF route, ready made, packed frozen and shipped to my door, it was working out at around £1-£1.50 a day and that would be with me adding some other things now and then like oily fish, fruit etc.
No hassle, just out the freezer and serve. chicken to start then onto the variety options you have of chicken, beef and lamb, all with ground down bones and vegetables included..
I don't think £12 pw is a lot not with the quality of food she would be getting.

I feed raw, and for the quality its great, cheaper than the best quality dry foods
