Lump on jaw
Woke up yesterday, and chase has a lump on his jaw inside his mouth, about the size of a sprout.
Its not bothering him at all, and his still eating as much as usual.
The day before it came up his was roughing about with a doberman and a few other dogs over the park, and i read it might be a bruise or a bug bite...
It came up over night, and hasn't got any bigger or smaller, I read that if it was a tumor or anything like that it would start small and slowly grow, where as this just appeared over night...
Just wondering if anyone has any idea/experience what is might be?
Um gunna see how it is in the morning and make an appointment with the vet just to be on the safe side...

Re: Lump on jaw
I may be a mouth abscess, It will either burst itself on hard chews but it may be painful so your better off getting it checked by a vet.

Maybe its an infection when he was playing with the Dobe, might have just got something caught. I'd probably pop to the vets too if its stays the same by morning

Re: Lump on jaw
I'd definitely take him to the vets. Dempsey, as you know, had an abscess after a dog bite recently & it caused a massive infection which he's still getting over.
It may be just a harmless bit of bruising, but let the vet have a look.

One of the dogs, a lab, was a bit snappy, not in a vicious way, shes a bit older and puts the other dogs in their place if they get too over playful near her.
Maybe its that then?
It doesn't seem uncomfortable at all, i'd just rather get it sorted now than wait and it get worse!
More money at the vets! His only just got over conjunctivitis!

Re: Lump on jaw
It could just be a haematoma from a bruise under the skin, but I wouldn't like to wait and see either. I would have thought that if it was infected it would be painful and generally infections don't appear overnight, so hopefully it is something that will resolve on it's own over time. Hope all goes well.

Re: Lump on jaw
The vet said he thinks its a bruise, It seemed smaller today, and as i thought it was too instant to be a tumor/infection. He said keep an eye on it for a couple of days and see if it continues to go down, if not well take it from there.

Re: Lump on jaw
Thanks everyone.
Yer its nice to know its nothing major.
My vet must think i send him into battle or something! His covered in scars, and then i take him in with a bruised face lol.
Chase thinks his indestructible, and even when he gets a little cut or something (usually from charging full speed through trees and bushes) he just carry's on as if nothings happened!

My breeder was telling me a story about one of his friends pups that charged over a cliff, and ending up cracking her hip.
Owners didn't know until about 3 hours later because the Staffy just powered through the pain and they couldn't tell until they realized she wasn't sitting or laying on one side.
