Kennel cough.. Empty Kennel cough..

Post by Rachel33 Tue Jan 07 2014, 08:36

Max has either got kennel cough or some kind of throat infection.. not sure which! Also not sure what to do in regards to walks? He's been hacking, gagging and bringing up white gunk for the past 36 hours, any time he gets excited he starts coughing. If you put the lead on, he starts coughing but have a harness that I can walk him on. However, he goes mad without his walks, the dog cannot keep still! Do I continue to walk him? There's a quiet field near by that I rarely see anybody in, but I'd hate to put other dogs at risk, though it's everywhere down here at the moment.. Don't know what to do!

Argh Sad Biscuit is made of metal lol she was in kennels for years with constant kennel cough going around and didn't ever get it.. keeping my fingers crossed she's okay! Trying to do treat training indoors but he just gets too excited and ends up throwing up! He's currently pacing around my house.. randomly throwing up on the floor as he walks. Nightmare!

Rocky had kennel cough a few months ago, vet advized no walks as it is highly contagious and he seemed quite sleepy anyway. We were given some antibiotics, it cleared up within a couple of weeks.

Rocky was also given the synulox, we stopped his walks for about 10-14 days

Hope he gets rid of it soon Rachel, lets hope Biscuit doesn't get it too. Sounds like she may have some kind of immunity to though, hopefully.
