Lily's eating (or lack of it) is driving me nuts
She must be the fussiest dog I have had, or even heard of! She is clearly hungry and yet she will go for days without eating - and its the same thing every day. Its like a game, I give her dinner, she sniffs it and then follows me round, staring at me, barking at me - its like she is waiting for a better offer. I pick it up after 15 mins but she's not bothered anyway, she just keeps on harassing me for food. I will give her food again at the next feeding time and so it continues. By day 3 she will eat it under sufferance and because she is hungry. I have tried different foods, she doesn't like dry food so I feed her Forthglade wet food which is one of the better ones. She has put on 2 kilos since I got her almost 2 years ago and now weighs 17 kilos so its not like she is wasting away but this constant food battle is wearing me out.
When I came in the door with the Christmas turkey, bacon, sausages and pork she couldn't get close enough so I was wondering if perhaps that is the answer - raw feed!!! Haven't got a clue how to get started, can anyone help please.

I did try it in the early days when I first got her but she just won't eat any dry food or biscuit mix

I have no doubt she would like them Just seems so strange giving chicken bones but I know these are staples so will give it a go.

Yeah if your starting raw chicken is the first thing to feed I'm very lucky and have a shop near me that sells raw food so I started on minced chicken carcass!

Re: Lily's eating (or lack of it) is driving me nuts
I feel your pain, I remember how frustrating it was with my last girl, she was terrible, would only eat chicken, eventually got her onto some wet food with chicken then just less and less chicken. She got wise to it quickly and nosed all the wet food out to get to the chicken..... Have you tried the dried food with some tuna in sunflower oil, it kinda coats and sticks to the dried food. Might entice the wee pest in! Although my old girl just licked all the tuna off the dried food, worth a go though!

I did try it once and she liked it but wouldn't eat it again, similarly with pilchards and mackerel

Re: Lily's eating (or lack of it) is driving me nuts
She souds just like tyra was! Perseverance I'm afraid, tyra wouldn't eat for days, I would give her bits of treats, bits of chicken ( basically giving in) coz I was worried she would starve. Believe me she didn't starve, I had to stop giving into her and just continually put the same thing down, when she got hungry enough and realised there was nothing else coming she ate it.

Thanks everyone - found somewhere local where I can get the produce to get me started so going tomorrow to find out more. Will let you know how I get on.
Sazzle and all you raw feeders, are there any teething problems I should be looking out for - loose poos or vomiting

I didn't have anything like that, and you shouldn't but it's possible so do just be aware. If you do have soft poo keep feeding just that meat until it hardens up and if it doesn't they are probably intolerant to it so you know to leave it out of their diet. I think they would only be sick if they ate their food too fast. Good luck and any questions just ask
