Puppy training
Hey just wondered if you have any good tips for house training ? I've been told squeeze cheese and obviously treats but is there anything else ?

Re: Puppy training
Watch for signs ie sniffing, mooching. Take him out every 30 mins and after sleep, play or food

Re: Puppy training
I got Hugo at 5 and a half weeks old, breeder just asked me to come and get him as he was ready to leave obviously I took him straight to the bra to get checked they weren't happy that he was given to me so young, so I have had him just over 4 weeks as he is 10 weeks now, he is good at going in the pads but has a tendacy to run from the pads to his bed and wees on his bed... I take him out every time he wakes up or he's playing but I can't get him to stop going toilet in his bed ?
Re: Puppy training
Use a phrase, I use 'do you business' start saying it everything he is doing it then after lots of praise/treats and he'l start to associate the phrase with the action so when he goes out and you say it he knows what to do

Re: Puppy training
I would say you need to take him out more, every 30 mins and as others mentioned monitor for signs of mooching/sniffing etc and move outside straight away when he seems like he needs to go! Get rid of the puppy pads, just take him straight outdoors and lots and lots of praise when he's been. Introduce a command if you would like Also make sure that his bed is cleaned very well with an anti microbial solution, can be bought from pets at home! Think it's called stain & odour remover. He can probably smell his urine there still and will continue to go where smells familiar.. Breeder sounds like an imbecile, but at least you're sensible!

Re: Puppy training
I cannot take him outside due to only having on of his injections but yes I have been using odour remover, I am obviously being patience as I know it's a long process !
Re: Puppy training
I may be wrong but I think you'd be OK to let him in the garden if he's had his first jabs?

Re: Puppy training
Wasn't sure if I could or not because that would help him learn a lot quicker but I don't want to do it just incase I can't ?
Re: Puppy training
See what the others who've had pups say but I'm sure I've seen people say its OK, just short supervised visits to the garden

Re: Puppy training
As long as it's not a communal garden used by other animals it's fine to let them out into the garden before jabs. In fact better for him to get fresh air and get toilet training in early x

Re: Puppy training
My pup's 10 wks now & been with us for 2 wks. He is hit & miss with the toilet training but I make sure as soon as he wakes, eats or has a big play I take him outside and repeatedly say 'Go toilet' until he does. He still goes inside occassionally but it is definately getting better. Lots of praise when they go outside, treats and a fuss made and I reckon it'll get better. Good luck x

Re: Puppy training
Darcy went in the garden after her 1st jabs but lots say it's fine even before my vet said so long as you don't get a lot of cats or other dog.

Re: Puppy training
We used pads but we didn't have garden other wise it would save us some money. If Debo had accident in the house we put some treats or kibble on that place, of course first we cleaned it. At first when he was as young as your pup we feed him in his crate, they don't do their business where they eat.
