Harness or collar?
Hi all, picked up some really helpful tips already. I just wondered which you think is the best? Pup training insisted on a collar, but wonder if I should try the harness again? Might be more comfortable for him when he tries to jump up at people and other dogs (although I'm trying my best to get him out of this too!!!!)

Re: Harness or collar?
i would use the collar method until the pup was about 9mths old. then i would use the harness, as your dog is 11 mths old i would start using the harness now,

The only problems I find with a harness is that you don't have control over the head (ie if a dog becomes aggressive & yours retaliates, you have no control over those beautiful, huge white gnashers!), and the dog may learn that he can pull a lot more easily & less uncomfortably! And Staffords being quite intelligent, they learn things pretty quick!

I started with a harness cause I found I had more control when she was pulling, she wore it for the first 3 months I had her until she learnt to heel and now she's just on the coller x

Re: Harness or collar?
Ive always walked Cairo on a harness. She wont walk on a collar,so i think she finds it more comfortable, and i feel happier walking her on a harness,as i think i have more control over her.Really, the choice is yours.Pup training probably say collar,as it is their preference, but if you want to walk him on a harness,go for it

Re: Harness or collar?
I prefare collars.
I have found when you pull the lead when they are wearing a harness there instants kick in to pull against it.....with the collar just a short pull to the side makes them go off balance a little and gets there attension.
