Another Staffy or Something Else??
Hi all,
We have decided to get another dog sometime next year. My husband can't see past staffies. He loves them and would like another. Now, if I'm honest, I never wanted a staffy but now Roxy is in our lives I'm hooked. I would love to have another staffy but another part of me thinks that there are so many wonderful breeds out there that sometimes I think it would be nice to have something different. We can't seem to agree because any breed I sugges he says no.

Hi there,
I quite like boston terriers and bull terriers but hubby just screws his face up when I mention them lol. I'm taking him to crufts in March to have a look round the different breeds at discover dogs. Maybe that will open his mind up to another breed.

Hi
I wouldn't mind a rescue but hubby isn't so keen. I've also got 3 young children and as far as I am aware, rescues are a bit reluctant to rehome dogs to families with young kids.

Re: Another Staffy or Something Else??
Standard Schnauzer? Good, physical dogs, intelligent, capable of playing rough with doggy friends like your Staffy and seem to be great with kids.
Or... just get another Staffy... it will do all of the above in a shorter package:)

Re: Another Staffy or Something Else??
That sounds like a really good idea I've got a kennel club book that details every registered breed and their characteristics! A book called "What Dog?" (Can't remember author) is great for learning about breeds too! Love the breeds mentioned! Guess it depends on your dog also! Some are too sensitive for staffs, does she play rough or is she a more gentle girl? Biscuit knocks my friends collie over! But labs can generally withstand her lol! However she plays ever so gently with my friends tiny Yorkie and looks after him when we're out walking! Are there any dogs that she particularly gets on with? Rescues do often rehome pups to homes with children, or dogs known to have lived with children before.. All of the ones that I have worked in have anyway. But it's personal choice. Just ensure you go to a good breeder if not, as previously mentioned the breeds you are leaning towards do tend to have health problems! How exciting x

Thank you all for your replies. My husband is very pleased that most of you agree with another staffy. Whatever breed we decide on, it will definately be from a reputable breeder who carries out all relevant health tests.

We have two staffies - lots of work and supervision but double the love, joy and happiness!
