Peeing frustration
Urgh , I'm taking radar out every half hour or so and she goes outside no problem , had no accidents all day and she goes 6 hours at night no problems . But from 10 pm onwards she goes really scatty . We have two dog beds down in the living one for her and one for zig . Problem is she pees in them , even if we have taken her out ten mins before . I wash them and replace with fresh ones , but i don't get it , is because she gets so excited ? She never really settles in the living room I was wondering if it was because I have lots of toys down ?
I managed to catch her in the act so said no and took her out she didn't do anything , then other half took her out and she peed , but then ten mins later peed in the other bed

Re: Peeing frustration
What are you washing the bedding with?
She's still very young, and will still have accidents. When they get excited they tend to forget themselves. Dempsey wasn't fully housetrained until he was about 6 months old!

Re: Peeing frustration
shes trying to make them familiar and hers, they smell weird coming out of the wash. Rub the freshly washed beds all over her a few times in the day and all over yourself and she should hopefully settle.

Re: Peeing frustration
I'm washing with normal washing powder , she never pees on the floor , and goes as soon as we go out , but she can go outside and still pee on one of the beds . One of them has been down a couple of days so should smell less fresh .
I think the living room is a like a play room to her and she gets too excited in here as there are a lot of toys on the floor so I plan to take them up at night to try and get her to settle slightly . It's just the peeing when she's only been out perhaps ten mins before , I don't understand

Re: Peeing frustration
Thats marking not peeing. But yes i agree with the taking the toys up for now, it will let her wind down, you should maybe even take them up about 30mins before you leave the room

Ah ok well will try and rub the towel on her and see how we go
She sleeps in her crate in the dining room and settles well in there , just when we are all in the living room she won't keep still and is abit like a gremlin, like gizmo getting wet after 10 pm she goes crackers .

Re: Peeing frustration
after 10 its "bed time" probably. i looked after a chihuahua who would go to bed at 10pm every night and you couldn't stop him lol

Re: Peeing frustration
Koda's the same, super hypo in the lounge before bed, I remove toys gradually over a half hour period and get him calm (but don't let him sleep), send him outside to do his bizzo before I put him in his crate then he tends to crash out in there no problem. Has the occasional wee in his crate during the night but he's only 9 wks so I'm assuming he'll grow out of that. Good luck !

Tell me about it! Of all the dogs I've had, Dempsey has been the worst for sudden, uncontrollable hyperactivity. It's like someone suddenly plugs him in & turns on the switch! Not so bad nowadays, but he used to tear around the house, literally bouncing off the furniture & walls!

Re: Peeing frustration
We were very lucky with Debo not peeing but the monster was in side him just before bed time. Hour or half an hour he would go mental. I think when he was getting extreme tired he was very naughty. It's like with kids. I have been told off so many times for saying that raising children is like training the dog.

Re: Peeing frustration
Thanks guys , I'm making some changes to the routine to see if I can get a handle on it . Feeling overwhelmed and tearful today to be honest . Woke up to a poo that she then trod in and got everywhere and the other thing I think ziggy is starting to put her in her place . She bunny hops and snaps at his face all play but he is getting annoyed I think and pinned her last night by the neck . She didn't cry but legs were flailing abit . So I stepped in . Today same happened but she cried out loudly so I stepped in again . Should I be doing this ? Tell him gentle ? Stop her from doing the behaviour that he thinks he needs to correct her on ? Feeling a little lost my other half has been working long days so I have been home a lot with both of them so feel shattered and tearful

Re: Peeing frustration
Awww bless you we all get like that sometimes xx
I only have the one dog but I would probably not step in while he's just pinning her and putting her in her place. Not sure if that's right or not though, sure others whi have two will advise xx

Re: Peeing frustration
I would not correct him. He's just saying " You've crossed the line, back off". I don't have 2 dogs but every time Debo annoyed other dog I let the dog to tell Debo off. If the dog was getting to annoyed I steped in just to correct Debo, because he was the one who's not behaving. It's the same with Radar.

Re: Peeing frustration
So I've taken her bed out of the living room as she never sleeps in it anyway and I have taken the fleeces out of her bed and put them into zigs bed to see if it's a scenting thing . She also has a bed in the kitchen where I out her if I'm doing things upstairs but I've put a new fleece in that one to see what happens .
The correcting thing worries me as there is so much conflicting advice but it's all new to me I'm sure it will fall into place . I just want to do right by the both of them

Re: Peeing frustration
Good luck with the peeing bit. The other reason I would not step in to correct Ziggy is she has to learn the dog language so she knows how to behave with other dogs. Good luck
