Peeing on the bed
Dexter has done this twice, once on my side when we were out (may have been completely our fault as we forgot to leave the doggy door open) but then about an hour ago I was in the kitchen prepping dinner and he was in and out watching me (this might make more sense if I explain that our room is downstairs, the childrens bedrooms are upstairs)
and when I walked into our room I spotted the pee patch on the bed on oh side this time. We haven't scolded him obviously, but he did skulk looking guilty for a while and eyeing the bed but we just acted as if all was normal, don't want to make it worse by making him anxious or sad. Any advice on how to get him out of this or why he may be having a sneaky piddle there? I have already used white vinegar and changed everything both times this happened.

Re: Peeing on the bed
Could it be his way of wanting attention? Maybe, if he was being ignored, he got frustrated & so peed.
I personally don't allow Dempsey into any of the bedrooms, but the few times he was allowed in at a young age he peed on the bed!
I think for the time being you should make sure that all the bedroom doors are shut & if he seems restless/seeking attention, see if he needs to go outside, or maybe needs a fuss?

Thanks Caryll, could have been because we were busy yeah. He sleeps on our bed but at the bottom, but I think we will be a bit more firm perhaps making him wait for permission before he comes up. First lil blip, better than chewing my phone or something I suppose

Maybe attention-seeking. If you let him sleep in the bedroom, perhaps just don't let him to in there while it's not bedtime, that way you can keep an eye on him? Loki once peed in his cage, and it might have been because he needed to go outside, but the look he gave me was one of pure "yeah, not ignoring me now, are you?" . Hope it gets sorted out soon

Hahaha..little devils. He definitely knew it was wrong looking at his reaction, he was telling himself off by the looks of it. Need to keep my best hawk eyes on the lil chap! I thought it was us women that were champion at getting attention...I was wrong! Not that I've ever peed on the bed to get Dan to notice me hahaha

Re: Peeing on the bed
Our beds smell of us, if a dog wees another dog will go and wee over it, often dogs wee on our beds to put their smell on instead of ours.
The best way to stop this happening again is to keep the bedroom door shut, my dogs all sleep with me but during the day they are kept out of the bedroom.
Dogs are very good at training us to be tidier in our homes.

Re: Peeing on the bed
Making his mark maybe ? take a do into an are its never been out side i will lay odds on he will pee and make his mark , it's a natural thing for a dog to do , it's up to us to teach them that it's not acceptable in the home , well done on not scolding him , if our pup has an accident in the house we take him straight outside to teach him that's the place to do it .

Re: Peeing on the bed
I figured it's similar to when the kids learnt not to wet the bed, I didn't scold them as they say it causes it more, and with all three it took no time so maybe it's right! Dexter is easily more sensitive than my kids too so I definitely didn't want to make a big fuss
