Peeing Empty Peeing

Post by kacilake Fri Oct 14 2011, 20:21

Our last pup was toilet trained in about 2 weeks.

Our new pup is nightmare! is it normal for a pup (9Weeks) to pee 5-6times an hour or pee twice outside then come inside and pee twice more!

We cant understand how so much pee comes out of something so small !!!!

any help as to why she pees so much would be appreciated!

We do everytime she eats and drinks she goes out and pees and when she wakes up from a sleep she goes out to.

She goes out and pee's in a couple of places the comes in waits a few mins then pees more - and not just little pees either!

Good lord, she's only 9 weeks old! What on earth do you want from her? She's a baby & like a baby her bladder just isn't strong enough to hold on for long. Keep going with the taking her into the garden frequently & praising her when she goes. If she pees inside, ignore it & take her outside. Clean the area thoroughly but make no fuss.

She'll soon pick it up.

It can be frustrating, but she's still only a baby and like mentioned above, they all learn and gain control at different times/ages.

All you can really do is be consistent with your efforts......place her outside in the area you want her to use after waking, eating, drinking, playing etc.... or when you start to see her tell-tale signs that she needs to "go". Use a key word or phrase........I used "do wees" and every time she goes in the right place give her heaps of positive praise and make her feel as if she is the most clever pup in the world.
When she makes a mess/mistake inside simply remove her from the area and clean it up without any fuss ( best that she does'nt see you clean it up or it may be seen as game ) I have heard that either Vinegar or BioZet laundry wash are the best to use as they Nuetralise any odours left by the urine etc..... making it less likely for them to keep returning to the same area, although maybe do a spot test somewhere first if you think it may damage your surfaces.

Good luck....and I'm sure she'll get the hang of things soon

Vlad is pretty much toilet trained now (we think, touch wood!) But, it was hard work, and very frustrating! When he was inside, we would take him out every 15 minutes and say "pee" or "poo" and take him to an area in the yard. He had a few accidents inside, but when we caught him we would say "No" and take him outside to the area he needs to do his business in. (he never got into trouble and we never punished him). This gave us a chance to clean the area properly. We used a cleaner designed to get rid of wee odours so he won't return to it and then we would mop the floor (we are fortunate that the area Vlad is allowed in as a puppy is all tiles). We have also trained him that when he is indoors, he goes to his bed. This is an open playpen that has his toys and his bed in. We close it at night. In a couple of weeks we will get him a crate. He does not do any toilet in "his space". Puppies are very clever! He now sits on the corner of his bed or stands at the entry of his pen and waits for us to open the back door! Don't stress too much, she is a baby and will toilet train eventually. It's all about taking loads of time and giving lots of praise and love! Big Grin

As i said we have another staff and we cant remember her peeing as much as this one

She litterally pees 5-6 times an hour even with taking her out to pee she will often go through the motions of peeing but nothing will come out.

She is also drinking about 100mol of water during the day and more in the evening is this alot?

My other staff is very interested in her bits in the same way she was with her ears when the had a little build up. just wondering if she could have an infection or something.

Our other staff must of been an exception she was trained in less than 2 weeks - but she is super intelligent!!!

It certainly is possible. Sometimes they will pick up something from the ground when the are using the toilet and get an infection. A trip to the vet with a urine sample might be a good idea
