Re: can anyone answer my question ???
Kennel clubs around the world didn't want to add the pitbull terrier to their official breeds, so a group of pitbull terrier owners decided to call their dog american staffordshire terrier and come up a with a standard and so many years after that the american kennel club and others accepted the american staffordshire terrier as a official breed. but today there are still some american staffordshire terriers are being registered as pit and american staffy just depends what type of pit you pefer.
Re: can anyone answer my question ???
ok then thanks but what do you mean with a standard?

Re: can anyone answer my question ???
Just wanted to add the reason why they are banned over here in Norway, even if you didn't ask for it. Pit Bulls were banned many years ago, but Am Staffs were banned a few years back (along with a few other breeds) because they looked too similar to the Pit Bulls so it was had for the police to keep them apart ( this was considered important partly bc quite a few registred AmStaffs were actually Pit Bulls that had gotten a legitimate AmStaff pedigree after cheating with registrations). Now there's a silly argument for you.. Let's just imprison everyone that looks like a criminal 'cause otherwise it's too hard for the police..

Re: can anyone answer my question ???
these day people can get whatever their want. if you can get drugs/guns into a country you will be able to bring dogs in
Re: can anyone answer my question ???
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) and the American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaff) are pretty much the exact same dog. The AKC did not want to recognize APBTs so some of the Pit Bull owners changed their name to the AmStaff which was recognized by the AKC. Other Pit Bull owners registered their dog as APBTs with the UKC or ADBA. The AmStaff and the APBT are still so similar that to this day there are dogs dual registered as AmStaffs in the AKC and APBTs in the UKC.
Banning "pit bulls" but not AmStaffs is just ridiculous politics and proves that BSL is wrong. AmStaffs are Pit Bulls. If you lost an AmStaff's papers and he ended up in a pound, chances are he'd be identified as a Pit Bull. There are very few differences in the breed standard for the AmStaff and the APBT, it is pretty darn close to identical!

all goverment dont do a good enough job stop anything! the money you would have to stop everything getting over the boarder would cost silly amount i dont think any goverement in the world could afford.

Re: can anyone answer my question ???
yea i agree. there should be one dog law and it should say if you make your dog into killing machine you will get 10 plus years you watch dog attack fall, it wiln't stop every attack because accidents does happen
Re: can anyone answer my question ???
yep thats right, the one big problem here is the law SUCKS
animal abuse (slap on the wrist)
dog fighting (slap on the wrist) its like the judge has no time but rather be dealing with more "important" issues.

The country as a whole has no breed bans, but there are some cities and counties that do. If you're curious, Here is a site with a list of all the breed bans in the US (and the World). In the US every city or county that has a "pit bull" (lowercase because it's meaningless the way they use it) ban defines it as APBTs, AmStaffs, and Staffy Bulls! Some of the breed bans include any dog that has a block head and short hair, some include any dog over 100 pounds (a couple of areas in the midwest have that ban)!! It's really ridiculous. There is no logic when it comes to these breed bans, which is why they don't work and should just be abolished! 11 States have already banned BSL, I hope others will follow suit!!
P.S. I hope I don't sound harsh in my posts. I'm sorry if I do, I'm a bit of a Pit Bull advocate, so I often get rilled up when talking about breed bans!!

thanks for the insight,i had no idea that different countries have different bans, besides APBT that nearly every countrie bans alraedy.

Re: can anyone answer my question ???
It is a shame these gorgeous dogs banned and that gorgeous dogs that are likely to be banned I love all canines and if i could i would own one of every breed lol
The law are bond to notice soon enough that it is not the dog but the owner but it doesn't help when breed lovers take the law into their own hands, I'v seen many illegal breeds advertised for sale don't they realise they are summoning that dog to death the moment they were born they signed their death certificate. I know someone who is currently expecting pups the mother is a dogo argentino, she's gorgeous but you can tell by her movement why she could be dangerous she stalks anything that moves she has a very high prey drive, he has mated her with a boxer...There are many doing this kind of mixing but they don't realise that if they keep on crossing them with dogs like lab or boxer its then going to the labs or boxer who are going to get banned because they can not trust it will not be mixed with an illegal breed to hide the true identity of the pups,The goverment will not folk out for define tests to see what breeds made it either. So bad breeding and mixing like this has to be stopped.

Your very spot on,im a true beliver that it is how the owner brings up the dog, espeically where there are circumstances when a dog attacts, its more then likely the owner has brought it up like that. But you do have a very good point with the mixing breeds, didnt think about it like that.I mean if a owner is goin to abuse a dog or use it in a dog fight,it just shows what kind of person they are, they shouldnt be allowed to have children of there own. And people like this is why dogs are banned.
