It looks like we have a fussy eater. She is on james wellbeloved chicken and rice and to start with she loved it, now she really cant be bothered with it and will have a little and leave the rest.

What dry foods does everyone else use?

And do you think a lower protein food is better for them?

I think jwb is fine for her, have you tried a little warm water on it? Or a little sardines in oil to make it more tasty Smile we fed jwb and Arden grange when we fed dry before switching to raw Smile

Rocky was on JWB before we switched to Barking Heads, we thought he got bored with it so changed. The JWB is a reasonably good quality food and would advize you to stick with it, try adding something to it to make it a bit more appealing such as a little grated cheese, sardines, cooked cooled chicken or even a raw egg occasionally won't hurt.

A lower protein food wouldn't be a good choice right now, while they are young and still growing they need more protein not less. If you add some sardine you will also be adding some calcium which is great for a young growing dog along with omega 3/6 all good stuff.

She likes the sardines, first time ever she has finished the lot in one go and kept going back to lick the bowl lol.

Markrobo i would not give wagg, try james wellbeloved or wainrights.

Did you just add tinned sardines? Or did you get fresh?

Markrobo: When we got our little one, he was being fed on those Webbox roll things and he was very underweight. We changed straight away to some tinned puppy food mixed with dry food and he had Diahorrea for a few days because of the sudden change.

Although I am now a BARF feeder, I reared Bacchus on Orijen puppy and he thrived on it. If she has enjoyed the JWB before and is enjoying it again with the addition of sardines, stick with it. Just don't allow her to become a fussy eater or you'll be making a rod for your own back.

P.S.
The addition of a teaspoonful of Salmon Oil makes it more palatable and has the benefit of supplementing his Omega 3.
