Sleeping in your bed
Hello everyone. Just wanted to know how if any of you allow your baby to sleep in bed with you (baby Staffy) :-). My Zara still sleeps in the kitchen in her own little bed but always comes up for cuddles in morning. I am very tempted to let her come sleep with us upstairs. It is something we will allow eventually. Along with my two cats three year old daughter and not forgetting the hubby. Everyone always ends up in the big bed. Zara is coming up 14 weeks on Sunday

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Moo has always slept in the bed as did my first pup, I guess it goes on how toilet trained they are, and how much room you are willing to share in a few months time...............Xx

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Zara is doing really well regards toilet training just the odd night she will have a wee in the kitchen. Yes it's gonna be one tight squeeze in the bed as my daughter ends up in with us every night also. We've got lots of visitors coming over christmas so will probably wait until the new year. I realise I've got to be 100% sure though as once we allow I her to sleep upstairs it would be unfair to change our minds. Xx

Absolutely right, it is a personal preference but would sometimes be easier if they couldn't best wait as if they happy then doing well why change the routine

We go to bed with Rocky sleeping on top of the duvet at the bottom of the bed. We then always wake up with him in the bed looking at us from under the duvet

Re: Sleeping in your bed
It's entirely up to you!
We don't have Dempsey on the bed, but that's mainly because he's too big & takes up too much room. Our old boy Bandit always slept on the bed with us, even when my kids were born & would end up with all of us cuddled up together!

All I will say is in a bed, a staffy can quite easily triple in size.

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Axl always sleeps in the bed with us but I sometimes wish he'd sleep in his own bed because he takes up so much room, its like having a hippo in the bed with us lol... its amazing how much room they take up! Oh and I do get the occasional leg kick or foot in my ear!

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Fab photo! I bet it's lovely all being snuggled up together! my two sleep on my bed, I actually moved rooms into a bigger room when I got my second dog so I could have a double bed since they're so big I needed more room so they could sleep with me wouldn't have it any other way

We are thinking of getting a king size bed as Katy takes up so much of it & pins the quilt down so draughts all round

In bed with us! Have done since pups. I did a gate at the door to our room and know that they need to go out when they get up in the night. Much easier than other options for us. Plus, who wouldn't want the cuddles?

Well I'm blowed. No sooner had I replied to another member regarding their crying puppy at night then I see this thread with everyone doing what I do i.e. let their pup (and eventual full-size dog) sleep in or on the bed with them!

Yep Ledger also takes over the bed, every now and then he will opt for the spare room (his daytime bed of choice) but mostly he snuggles tight into me

Re: Sleeping in your bed
For those that do let your dogs sleep with them, what happens if you go away and you can't bring them or for some reason they can't sleep with you - do they fret or get upset/separation anxiety?
We've always owned very large dogs so there was no way we could share a bed with them but now that we're getting a staff, it is something we're considering but just concerned that it might be hard on him if he can't sleep with one of us for any reason.

Yep our 2 sleep in bed with us! We did have to buy a super kingsize bed though which was rather expensive (but they're worth it!!)

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Nope, i'm mean lol! Biscuit sleeps downstairs on the sofa, or in her own bed! When I was in a 1 bed flat she would sleep in with me, as I had no heating so it kept us both warm But she's a little rat bag and stamps all over the bed, makes nests and growls as every little noise. You never get any sleep!

Re: Sleeping in your bed
When Ledger stays at my parents overnight he sleeps in the conservatory with their dog they always allowed dogs in the bedroom Lisa gsd/lab liked to snuggle Pepsi heinz 57 liked the floor but Lucky springer/collie never stopped moving hence the move the conservatorydjstratton wrote:For those that do let your dogs sleep with them, what happens if you go away and you can't bring them or for some reason they can't sleep with you - do they fret or get upset/separation anxiety?

He always seems very content when I come to pick him up (or if I'm staying over he comes into bed with me there) and is mostly curled up on his chair but when I'm not there he prefers small spaces to curl into and has started opening a cupboard pulling the shoes out and curling up under the lower shelf
Oh and when he went on his barking mad holiday they were happy for him to sleep on the bed too

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Whether I like it or not, both mine are in bed before I've even gone up the stairs.
They JUST know when it's bed time - even if I haven't actually moved at that point.
It's all good, until Captain Weemo, an oldie staffy in on foster with me, lets one of his gassy pants rip.
Then, even Wingo, the English Bull gets out of bed in disgust.

Re: Sleeping in your bed
My little man has his bed next to mine and then I let him come up for cuddles before sleep and in a morning before we get up. He's like a human though. He wants to lie with his head on my pillow and his body stretched out down the bed. He hates getting up in a morning and creeps more and more into my space lol. He's so affectionate he's got to be touching you all the time and at 26kg at 10 months old it's often rather differculty to move him. My boy gives the best cuddles in he world and I'd feel like I was missing out if he wasn't allowed on the bed. Love him to bits!

each to their own! I don't think I'd get any sleep, she would lick me to death

Tedster sleeps in my bed with me and has done from day 1
When it's warm he sleeps on top but at this time of year it's make a doggy nest in the duvet and we curl up together, so much better than a hot water bottle

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Although Kuchar generally starts off the night sleeping in bed with me, I am such a restless sleeper always tossing and turning he usually gets fed up with it and takes himself off for a more peaceful night (probably on the sofa downstairs)

Re: Sleeping in your bed
Nope. My pooch sometimes joins me for naps on the sofa, but usually wakes me by snoring in my face or shaking as he's having a running dream.
Would be no fun if this happened during the night
