Frontline Combo Spot On For Dogs
Frontline Combo Spot On For Dogs was prescribed by the vet, Lucy's flea treatment is due again so...
do I go to the vet and get the same or do I really need it over the winter period?
I'm asking this as Lucy is only 14 weeks and I don't want to put anything in her body that she doesn't need?

Re: Frontline Combo Spot On For Dogs
Personally, I de-flea with advocate every month. Previously I was actually really slack as she had never had fleas, just used frontline as and when, until she contracted a particularly nasty bout of sarcoptic mange from the foxes in the fields, she was in such a state and it took so long/cost so much to get her back to full health I don't mess around with it now. I thought she just had a rash from the grass, came home from work and she had scratched so much her side was open and bleeding, she lost 4kg and was just so uncomfortable! I'd assume this is fairly uncommon, but I wouldn't ever want her to get anything like that again!

Generally I don't flea either as it's unessesary chemicals, you should be OK throught the winter. I did give Daisy one treatment over the summer thsi year as ticks were rife and she was running about in the long grass at my mums.

Re: Frontline Combo Spot On For Dogs
frontline actually is very ineffective against fleas now, and no i don't use chemical flea or worm treatments, but there are alot better ones then frontline

We live in an area where others don't take very good care of their pets so we tend to use flea treatment every 2-3 months. We use Effipro which has been good so far

I will always worm every 3 months, but I never use a flea treatment unless I actually see the fleas.

We also have many, many foxes around here, but none of them have sarcoptic mange.
