I’v never been so terrified
I was on my home from the hair dressers not far from mine I crossed the road as I reached my gate I heard a very load thud I turned around and a dog had got hit over, I ran over and the dog was just lying there lifeless the driver got out and ran over I pressed my ear to the dogs chest and his heart wasn’t beating so I started to resuscitate her it felt like it took ages to get her heart beating again but it did but she wasn’t breathing so I had to give it mouth to nose, I had to pull the tongue forward covered in blood the jaw was extremely lose and brittle I think it was shattered it kept on wobbling in my hand and it was hard to keep the mouth open, I told the guy to call a vet luckily he does have animals and he does have a phone number. After what felt like ages again she started breathing but it wasn’t consistent so I done it again and she started breathing on her own, The driver got a coat from out of the car and we rolled the dog onto it and put it in the back of the car, I gave him my number and asked him to let me know and he went, luckily the local vet is only 20mins into town so fingers crossed.
She was quite young and in good condition so hopefully she is micro-chipped and the owners will be called.
It wasn’t his fault and he did stop when others wouldn’t and he took her to the vets if it wasn’t for him I don’t know what I would of done there was no one else around not even another car parked or anything, I had no phone on me.
I never want to experience that again ever, still shaking, I couldn’t stop washing my hands and mouth there was so much blood on them I just hope I done the right thing because i know if I done it wrong I could of caused more damage and it would kill me if that was the case.

What a horrible experience. You poor thing. Good job the guy stopped and you were able to think quick and get the dog breathing again and kept warm with the coat.
Pleas keep us informed if you hear any news from the guy you gave your number to.

Oh, God, poor little dog. You acted the hero, Claire, well done.
Hope she's ok, and that you're getting over the shock of it now. Terrible thing to see.

Re: I’v never been so terrified
The driver not long called me, He said she stopped breathing again on the way to the vet but he got there and the vets were waiting outside so they brought her back around but then they knocked her out to prevent swelling of the brain, she has broken almost every bone on her front left side, her front left leg is shattered looks like their going to have to remove it and her shoulder her lower jaw is shattered and her top jaw is split right down the center so she is going to have to get it wired, very lucky she didn't have broken ribs because what i done would of killed her, but she is stable now and breathing for herself and is looking good.
The owners have been contacted, they were only here visiting a family member the dog dashed past in the door way, and the owners didn't know where to start looking she was only missing half hour.
They are going to go ahead with treatment rather than put her down.
P.S. Her name is Sasha she's a 23 month old pug cross staffy

I don't think the owners know about me to be honest but as long as she is alright i don't care if the driver gets the glory.
