Our Nala is fine if we there, but have to be honest they minute we leave her she can chew quite a lot! We bought a kong, but only distsracts for a little while and a Nylabone, she loves that, but really helps with her teething I think more than anything. Hopefully as she gets older she'll get better! Sometimes it's boredome I think depending on how long they are left!

Re: aghhh puppy help lol
I have exact same problem with Milo, he would rather chew on everyting else other than his toys. So far he's chewed on the carpet, skirting board, Sofa, radiators, pipes. You name it and he's had a go at it. Tell him off and he moves on to the next thing.
He started chewing on the kitchen skirting board the other day and the wine rack built in to the kitchen, so I mixed a little bit of thai seven spice with some water and rubbed a little bit on where he'd been chewing. Went to have another go and didnt like taste so he hasnt gone back to them. Ha.
Obviously cant do that with everything but, it seemed to work as a deterent for them. Only did it in the kitchen as thats where he is left whilst we are out etc.

Re: aghhh puppy help lol
Have you tried any of the sprays? I used Bitter Apple with Dempsey, and as most of you know he's a real serial chewer! It did help, although you have to re-apply the spray frequently as it wears off quite quickly. With that and the good old stand by of "No, leave it!" you should get there eventually!
The other thing you could try is rubbing either menthol or oil of cloves on to the surfaces you don't want her to chew.

Caryll, does Dempsey still chew then? I was rather hoping Nals would grow out of it! To be fair, it's mostly when she's bored on her own, however, think we are lucky compared to some, she only does skirting boards and door frames so far, hasn't touched our pipes, radiators nor our kitchen cabinets YET!

Re: aghhh puppy help lol
I found that an old worn leather (frozen in the freezer) really helped when i had all the pups here, it was really cool and soothing and chewable for them kinda like teething rings for kids. I used simple things like a cheap leather collar or belt, when they went to chew things i chucked like a piece of leather or a soft toy at them so it kinda softly hit them and they were like oh wow where did that come from and they usually attacked it kinda thing all excited.

Well, she's, what, 6 weeks old now? She should be ok, I think.

Dempsey will chew his toys to pieces still, but he doesn't (often) chew things he's not supposed to. When he does, a sharp "No", "Leave it!" or "Ah Ah!" will stop him straight away.
They do grow out of it, with maybe the odd little mistake, it's the 'now' that you have to take care of, though!

Re: aghhh puppy help lol
i took woody out wrapped in ablanket in my arms at 8 weeks to local shops to introduce him - i dont think if they come in to contact with other dogs they be fine.
you may want to try vinegar (smells like a chippy round the house though) or vicks vapour rub. vicks was the one thing that stopped woody chewing certain bits of furniture - he is a bad chewer even down to the trim on thr laminate floorin but vicks stops him in his tracks - the little bugger liked the apple spray!
