Mika's progress
Toilet training is driving me mental. Just when I think I've cracked it, boom! Pee on the kitchen floor. Don't get me wrong it's mostly at the door so she obviously knows she needs to go outside and we have to keep a close eye on it. Peeing in her cage is still a bit of a problem. If she pees in there she doesn't get any blankets in with her. Any other help with that?
She also likes to jump up, I'm guessing that's just the puppy's nature? Will she grow out of that or can we teach her to stop?
Chewing is a slight problem also, anything and everything! Lol. Nightmare.
She's now allowed to go walkies as it's been 10 days since her second jag, that's the timescale the vet suggested. Having done a couple laps of the house as a practice run, it's going to be a nightmare getting her used to the collar and lead, any help?
Thanks in advance everyone:)

Re: Mika's progress
Just keep an eye on her with the toilet training and take her out as soon as she wakes up, after every meal, after playing with her...actually most of the time. Lots of praise when she goes outside and don't react at all when she goes indoors, just clean up using a biological cleaner so as not to leave a scent for her to go back to. She will get the hang of it if you're consistent.
Re jumping up. Turn away and ignore her if she jumps up, no interaction not even scolding. Remember she is jumping up for attention and even a scolding to her is attention and better than no attention at all. If she persists put her out of the room for a short time out. Again no fuss just remove her for a short time then let her back in and repeat until she gets the message. Again be consistent, everyone in the house has to be reading from the same hymn sheet.
With the collar and lead, allow her to get used to having the collar on. There will be much rubbing and scratching to begin with until she gets used to having this strange object round her neck. It's worth distracting her attention away from the collar by playing with her favourite toy Once she's used to the collar, progress to attaching the lead and just letting her trail it around without you holding on to it. Again she'll get used to it pretty quickly.
Remember we've all been through this and come out the other side, it all comes together pretty quickly believe me. And remember lots of puppy picks as they grow up so quickly.

Re: Mika's progress
Thanks very much for your help! Some great advice. Especially with the jumping. I'm never very sure what to do when she jumps up. Thanks again

No problem. Remember any concerns, don't hesitate to ask. There are lots of people here with much more experience than me and will be able to offer advice on pretty much anything staffy.Rossco91 wrote:Thanks very much for your help! Some great advice. Re: Mika's progress
It sounds like he's getting there with the toilet training, how old is he? He may not have full control, of his bladder yet.
Have a read of this re the jumping up

Yes she's still a baby, but like a baby she will also learn to manipulate you if you're not consistent:x They are very clever little dogs.Rossco91 wrote:About 13 weeks. So still very young. Still so much for her to learn
