Other Dogs
Hi
I have recently adopted a White Staffie called Hollie from Birmingham Dogs Home, so i dont really know her history she is around 4 so they say and i think un-neutered and also quite deaf. She is a lovely friend girl who adores fuss and being on your lap . However something happened which has concerned me greatly a few weeks ago and i have been trying to find a solution. We were at a local park she was on a lead however another Terrier type dog was not and you can guess they went for each other and Hollie would not let go , thankfully the owner was a very understanding person. On another walk she started growling at any dog that came near her. I have a lot of doggy friends and we have with our previous dogs been out with them no problems (our previous dogs were a husky & a Lab x) I am too scared to take her out with them which i feel is such a shame. Is there any way i can get to be more sociable ? Would neutering her help ? (id read some mixed reports on this ) Cheers

Re: Other Dogs
You may need to just find someone with another dog and walk them on lead together, apart in distance and gradually get closer. Apart from that I can only suggest that just keep taking her out where there are dogs on lead and be persistant.
Try not to be nervous as she will pick up on this its difficult as you don't know her history. This link may give you a few tips xx

Thanks for your response, having never experienced this before it was quite a shock, I do think she was bred from and being deaf doesnt help this situation but we will work on it

Re: Other Dogs
Chloe sometimes growls at other dogs if she is on a lead and they aren't. I think she feels a bit vulnerable. Off lead she's fine with all other dogs. I'm sure once Hollie gets to know your friends' dogs she will be fine. Try not to worry although it can be difficult can't it?! It sounds like she'll have a happy life with you
