GREAT NEWS for me

My youngest son rang me today and has signed off the army, he has 12 months then no more sleepless nights and worry for me. After 4 hard tours and 8 years away from home he has decided he needs to settle in the real world, just hope he can find a job when he gets out <:-P <:-P <:-P

Wow, does he have to give 12 months notice?

You must feel so relieved. Does that mean he won't be sent to the hot spots again?

Yes its 12 months notice and then a recall of 5 years but its rare to be called back after 2 years and his division is at full capacity so its looking good he wont need to go back to the hot spots again THANK GOD

I felt the same and because my boy was only 16 when he joined I had to sign all his papers which made me feel even more guilty as well as he must not be happy and want to leave ect.
But joining the army was the best thing he has ever done he went from a boy to a man overnight. I know there are wars on but as well as negative hes been involved with positive has travelled the world and seen things we can only dream about he has memories and freinds that will last a lifetime.
So if its his dream Lynne let him go with your blessing >< it will be hard and you will worry like mad but you will be so proud of him

I would not stop him, like you say if it is his dream, i just won't be very happy (not in front of him of course)

He has a few things in mind but not sure what the job situation is like in the real world, he has his class 1 and 2 and plant machine licences so thats a option if there is work out-there.
His corprol is setting up a buisness of personal training with a difference army style and if it takes off has offered him work.
Another freind said he will try to get him on his job of security to the stars
But the one he wants is maritime working on the oil tankers in the gulf protecting them from the somalian pirates
The job he would love though would be to join the fire brigade but there isnt much chance due to the cuts.

Hope he doesn't choose the oil tanker one. Sounds too dangerous, you'd think he'd want a rest from danger at least for a while, wouldn't you?

Im afraid anything with danger seems to excite him hes a adrenilin junky I hope he doesnt go for that but the money is fantastic

Some of the dangerous jobs do pay very well
