Little moan. ..

My dad was out walking Bubba (mastiff/staffy mixture) and there were lots of building works going on. My dad had him on a short lead, he sometimes barks at jcb's) well then a woman cane by on the other side of the road in a fluorescent yellow coat so Bubba whom was very excited at this point barked in her direction (other side of a road). Turns out it was a lady my mum goes to a choir with. When mum arrived the lady came storming over asking my mum if she knew what happened 'your dog went for me it tried to attack me' my mum simply responded by saying 'but he was on a lead and under control on a diff side of the road?' The woman said yes but he went for me etc etc

Sooo annoyed that she is mouthing off about him like this Sad He's a rescue and due to issues is always on the lead (noisey and excitable!) Hes a good dog that had a pretty poor start in life.

Rant over!

Ignore it, but also just get used to it. I don't mean to be blunt but that mix of dog and that background will forever more create a bad vibe. But you know your dog and you know how to control him, so rest easy knwoing he is well loved Big Grin

She would likely see the same behaviour in a small dog and think it cute and playful but then again a lot of people are naive of bigger breeds and without positive personal experience believe the media hype that they are all crazed killing machines

I've even had Ledger doing his happy vocal chatter noises in the park before and had another dog owner literally scream that he was growling at her!

I find sometimes that me staying relaxed and gently shortening the lead while talking loudly at Ledger helps. something like "no theres nothing in the shopping bags for you" or "not everyone wants to play" usually keeps him calm and lets the strangers know you are aware of them and that he is just being inquisitive not aggressive

I get it all the time hun, Biscuit's muzzled in public as precaution, she's never bitten but she spooks easily and will lunge/growl. The looks and comments I get when we're minding our own business walking down the street are horrible but I don't care, we're happy! Takes a little while to get used to but they've done such a lovely thing taking on this boy! I'm sure he cares much more what they think than some silly, ignorant old bat!

Oh for heavens sake Cesca. what a precious woman. she's lucky she's got nothing worse in her life than a dog barking on the other side of the road to worry about.

Just hope your mum wasn't upset; and don't you be either.
