Anal glands... sorry!
Morning!
Just have a quick question about dog's and anal glands, hope you're not eating your breakkie
I noticed a "funny" smell coming from Axl on Saturday evening, I can't really explain it other than its metallic and foul. Anyway I noticed it again yesterday morning and he leaked a bit of it on me ewwww took him out for a poo poo just after that.
Since then I've not smelt it again, so that's all day yesterday and this morning but I wondered if I should take him to the vets anyway, would you?
(p.s. he is fed on Skinners track and field, before that James Welbeloved)
Thank you!

I always do my dogs glands when bathing them. The warm water helps and it is easy to clean them (and me) up afterwards. Not a pleasant job but can be necessary if you catch them carpet surfing.
Oh and wear gloves, cos that smell ......

I didn't think I could do it either, but doing it in the bath makes it easier. Get your vet to show you how, it really is easy.

Yeah I am totally with you there Caryll lol. Not only would I rather pay the vet to do it, Axl hates water so I don't think i'd be able to keep him in the bath as well as attend to his bum... I can imagine the chaos!

Do it in the bathtub with water running. Rinse all down and you are good to go. Washing involves lots of soap on my hands! It is nasty! After it is done you are good for a while but I have found each one needs it from time to time.
