Not a Staffy but...
Seen as you are all lovely I didn't think you'd mind me asking here!
Boris my labradoodle has a dark brown/black freckle type thing that has suddenly appeared on his back. I noticed it today after bathing all three dogs after their trip to the beach.
Is it something to worry about?

He's 4, it's flat and it doesn't appear to be bothering him. :/

Re: Not a Staffy but...
Are you sure it's only just appeared; it may have been there for ages & you just haven't noticed?
If you're certain that it's appeared out of nowhere then I'd get it checked. Any change of pigment after maturity should ideally be looked at by your pooch's personal physician.

Yeah it definitely wasn't there before. He doesn't have any other spots or anything on his body. He also has pretty fine hair so it would have been spotted. He's got his vacs coming up so mums going to ask the vet when she takes him in.
I hope it's not something serious!

Normally, the worrying changes tend to be raised and sometimes sort of crusty.
That's not to say that this isn't worrying, but it's less worrying if you see what I mean!

Agree with Caryll re the raised and crusty and get him checked out but dont worry yourself too much yet as ive found so many lumps, bumps and weird looking things on dogs over the years and they have all turned out to be nothing. Ive always gone to vet though as a consultation fee is worth its weight in gold when it puts your mind at rest.

Re: Not a Staffy but...
Boris went to the vet yesterday and has the all clear. Vet said it's hyperpigmentation where the skin has reacted to something, probably an old injury, and it will disappear in time. If it doesn't disappear or changes in size or shape he'll have him back in and remove it.
Sigh of relief

That's a relief Rosie, at least you know what you are dealing with.
