Winter laziness
Has anyone else's staff gone in to hibernation mode? Lola has gone from being madstaff to lazybones since the change in temperature and daylight. She's 3 this week so it's not as if she getting on a bit! Also since the fireworks season she cuts her walk short if she hears a bang (construction in the distance, rabbit shooting etc) and we run full belt the last bit home - I worry she's not getting enough exercise now although we try to do a 30 min run/walk am, 15 mins brisk round the block lunchtime unless we go to the woods in the afternoon and then 30 mins run/walk (used to be 45) pm or an hour round the woods at Stafford speed to finish the day. In between she's snooze, snooze, snooze - probably won't bother buying toys for birthday, just something fluffy and cosy!

Re: Winter laziness
It's the amount of daylight time each day that would affect the dog. I feel like hibernating myself right now until about the end of May
Are you able to go for a longer walk a bit earlier in the morning when it is light ? Rocky has an hour in the morning then another hour in the afternoon and is mostly snoozing in between these times. He sleeps well at night too when we are in bed.

Re: Winter laziness
Yes, I think I will make the early walks longer - although I work 2 days a week and we already go out at 6am then so she needs to blow off steam when I get home as she doesn't get walked lunchtime (my neighbour comes in for an hour midday for cuddles and a breather outside but Lola is too much for her to walk and if she has been to the woods the day before, which I try to do, apparently she is still snoozy lunchtime and can barely be bothered to go outside!). We're off there later with her collie friend Holly so I don't expect she will be too lively if there's a fluffy blanket on the sofa later - same applies to me!

Re: Winter laziness
Our 2 are happy with an hour's run a day, plus charging round the garden! On a morning they go outside for a wee, then straight back to bed!!!!!!!!

Re: Winter laziness
Rolo is a plain and simple Lazy bum!! He may change sofas.. or go to his bed.. but that's about it for him. Took him out over the fields friday morning, Little heat seeking missile over there! 45 mins later... he comes home, gets in his bed and then didn't move until saturday other than being pushed into the garden for a wee!! He's like that all year round!!

Re: Winter laziness
They've gone to bed already here! Roast dinner in an hour might bring them back down in the hope of some leftovers! They'll have a little play in the garden later but they wouldn't thank us for a walk - they're still a bit damp and sandy from the beach. We'll probably all be in front of the fire watching 'i'm a celebrity' at 9

Biscuit's always lazy.. haven't really noticed a change since the season change! Although she does get all silly and whizzy when it's really cold and the wind gets up her bum

Re: Winter laziness
This is good to know as Axl is a complete lazy bum in the winter, though it was just him! He does have a few zoomie moments around the living room but other than that he will walk in the morning and is quite content to lay on the sofa snoring his little head off!

Ozzy cant wait to be outside all the time as long as he hears the jingle of his lead. if i just let him in the garden for a wee, its over in seconds and zooms back to comfy bed

Re: Winter laziness
THIS is lazy.... When Mia has been for her walk she will have a drink, potter around for a couple of mins then she puts her front legs on the sofa and waits for you to give her a hoist up lol
