Preparing raw food for kennels
Lola is going for a little break for 5nights the start of next month. My concern is that the kennels will look at me odd wen i give them the bags of chicken backs and offal or wateva i have at the time. Anyway i can prepare it better?

Re: Preparing raw food for kennels
Ya my only issue is buying the mince here is very expensive unless you buy in bulk and i dont have the space. I get a box of off cuts and stuff from my butcher every other week. So i dont have to freeze loads. It will cost me more for food than her to stay der if i buy it.

Re: Preparing raw food for kennels
what i would recommend is get a load of freezer bags and sort a menu out.
so weigh out and bag each meal and label each bag e.g monday am, tuesday pm....
and then just explain to them what you have done. No need to send just mince if you do it that way

Re: Preparing raw food for kennels
Caryll did feed full raw, but swapped Dempsey on to dry
Just because she's never heard of a dog feeding raw doesn't mean you need to change his diet. I know hundreds of people from all over the world who feed raw

I don't think she needs more Harry she'll get everything she needs from the raw. Make sure she knows not to change Lola's diet.

Re: Preparing raw food for kennels
There are two vets at our surgery one is 100% behind Darcy being raw fed the other is not you can't please everyone but look at Ella's boys and all the other pooches who are thriving on it.

I did feed completely raw & Dempsey was fine on it, but when he developed bloat & had to have major stomach surgery he just didn't do so well on it. Obviously something from his surgery was stopping him from using the raw fully.ella wrote:Caryll did feed full raw, but swapped Dempsey on to dry
I changed to half and half for that reason, and it worked for him. However, a prey model raw diet is by far and away the most natural way to feed a dog, and I'd recommend it every time.
As for the kennels saying she's never heard of it, I think she ought to get out into the world a bit more! It's a fast increasing way of feeding for people nowadays! I take it she has enough freezer space to take the food you have for her? If so, I'd bag up individual meals & write on them exactly when they're for.
