Abit unsettled
Since the weekend Mia has been a little unsettled. She keeps looking at me and whining as if she is trying to tell me something. Went on the moors on sun aft for a lovely walk and she didn't settle that night either. Also when she meets other dogs on a walk her reactions are different, ears back and seems rather nervous. Nothing has happened to her and her routine is the same. The only thing I can put it down to is being spayed, maybe her hormones need time to settle down after her op! What do you think it could be?

Re: Abit unsettled
Not sure Debs something may have spooked her, their hearing is so acute so although you may not have heard anything she may have.
I have never had a girlie so not sure about the spaying.
Vin has been really odd since all the fireworks and at the mo hates going out in the dark. Sure she will calm down soon xx

Spaying can have long lasting effects, and some dogs will be a little nervous afterwards. Hopefully, once she has completely recovered (mentally as well as physically) she'll return to normal.

Re: Abit unsettled
How long ago was Mia spayed? If recently, then she may still be feeling a bit sore.
Otherwise, unless she has been upset from all the recent fireworks, I couldn't guess at the moment. Is she eating and pooing normally?
I would suggest keeping a diary on her for a few days, note her reactions, her whining, and if she hasn't been spayed within the last month or so feel her gently all over and note if you feel any unusual muscle tension, masses (lumps) or tenderness.
Try not to worry, but let us know how you get on.

3rd October Lynda Mia was spayed. I'd say her hormones could still be recovering making her act a little off hope she's feeling better soon.

Re: Abit unsettled
I did put it down to the spay cos if a dog sniffs her back end she turns round really quickly and doesn't like it. Her scar is really neat and there are no lumps or redness. Fireworks didn't bother her so don't think it's that. She hasn't been snappy with the other dogs she meets out but you can see she is a little nervous. Thanks for the advice, will keep a close eye on her behaviour.
