Ok - freaked out now
Gave my two Kongs stuffed with frozen treats earlier.
Silence, apart from slurping.
All good and ignoring the fireworks.
The staffy brought his Kong to me when he'd finished it, like he always does - his way of saying "Gimme more", I think.
The English Bull's one was nowhere to be seen.
Dog bed? No.
Other dog bed? No.
Garage? No.
Washing machine? No.
Bin? No.
Cupboards? No.
Under the sofas? No.
Behind the hifi stuff? No.
In the gas meter cupboard? No.
Under the furniture? No.
Under the table? No.
In the hall? No.
In the back garden - out with torch? No.
Recheck everywhere again....
Conclude EBT has eaten a full size Kong. Fuark.
Go upstairs to get vet's number. Kong is sitting on my bed, treat interior gone.
Now, that means she had to leap a baby gate, crawl unnoticed up the stairs, open the bedroom door, close the bedroom door, creep back down the stairs unnoticed, leap the baby gate again.
I know I didn't put it up there as I haven't been upstairs all evening, or afternoon, for that matter.
And there's no one else here.
Which means, I am officially freaked out now.

I'm hoping so.
That's the least-worrying of the options, Kathy.

I'd prefer a poltergeist, I think.
Bully needs to NOT be able to jump baby gates like a ninja.

I have also had the mighty Kong hunt Keith, but that does sound a tad spooky!

Re: Ok - freaked out now
Bullies are cheeky little sods! For four years, we thought Dempsey was incabable of opening doors and jumping high enough to get onto beds - mainly because he's too lazy. Lo and behold, a couple of months ago, he gets onto one of the tallest beds and chomps down on the pillows.
He's also figured out how to open my door, even if it's locked. He's managed to get in there four times in the last week. Each time, he's been curled up on my bed. They're perfectly capable of jumping and climbing over things, once they realise that they can!

Kuchar's Kong went missing weeks ago. Like you, I have searched every nook and cranny in the entire house and garden, but it has disappeared off the face of the earth.
Now I know where it went. Your bed, Keith. Can I have it back?
These dogs are supernatural ....

Re: Ok - freaked out now
Here's a strange story to go with yours...
After our last dog died (a wonderful, sweet weimaraner called Ghillie), a couple of weeks later I went into the bathroom for my shower after my wife had gone to work. When I came out the bathroom, sitting right outside the bathroom door was Ghillie's favourite ball - just sitting there on the floor. I have no idea how it could have gotten there and it was a wee bit spooky to say the least but, you know what, I actually take a bit of comfort from it...

I'm glad it brought you comfort Les. I'm afraid it would have broken me up.
Keep comforting your dad with memories of you, Ghillie

Completely understand that buddy - my boy had to be PTS last year and there were strange goings on for a week or two afterwards.marlesghille wrote:Here's a strange story to go with yours...

I'm the world's biggest skeptic, having a background in maths and physics, but even I couldn't argue with the fact I'd come home from work and the perfectly made bed was all creased and scrunched up - in an empty house, as I live alone.
Quite a few strange things happened, which I never wrote about as they sound, well, a bit mad.
I had two fosters in a few months after my boy's passing and one of them started barking in the kitchen - except they were both sat beside me, but there was barking in the kitchen.
Both dogs reacted to it too.
My new dog spent ages staring at my old boys ashes when she arrived.
There's more, but I'll be carted off to a hospital if I go much further.

Re: Ok - freaked out now
I've lost 3 dogs in my lifetime - one was euthanized in my living room, one died in my living room, and one sweet little pup who we only had few days but invested all our emotions in, was euthanized at the vets.
Each passing tore my heart out. I'd love to think that I will meet them again when I myself cross the Rainbow Bridge, but I can honestly say that I have never experienced anything "weird" after their passings. They were just "gone" (not in my memory or heart of course)
