Helppp!!
Hey guys!!!
Just wondering if you have experienced anything like this with your staffy or kno of any advice to give me.
Basically, we only give phoebe dry food as when we feed her wet food her breath is unbearable as you can imagine lol, and her teeth arent amazing ( we rescued her so guessing her old owners wasnt keen in looking after her teeth) so now we are in trail and error with dry food, we've tried near enough everything. She is either sick with it or she eats very little. Is she being fussy?? What shall we do? Any food recommendations??
Thank you very much.
Ami and phoebe!!xx

Re: Helppp!!
Not all dogs appreciate dry food (my little fusspot won't look at it) so I feed Wainwrights trays (from PAH) which is wettish, but doesn't smell horrible in itself. So that might be worth a try.
But if her teeth aren't so good, it sounds as if maybe wetter food is getting stuck in and between them, which depending on what wet food you've tried, might smell, particularly if it starts decomposing in the mouth.
Have you asked your vet's opinion abut her teeth? If she's actually got a bad tooth in there, not only will it smell but will cause he pain as well, particularly when eating dry crunchy food. A "dentist" checkup would be my first port of call.

Thanks for your replies and advise.
The vet has said her teeth are very warn due to age and not enough attention in her younger days!

Re: Helppp!!
Poor Phoebe.
Well, if the vet is satisfied that however worn down her teeth are, there are no bad teeth (or gum disease) then it may be that her teeth have worn down to such an extent that biting or chewing on hard things (like kibble) is still hurting the nerves in her teeth as the nerves will be that much nearer the surface of the tooth/teeth.
How is she with chewing things in general - like stag bars, bones etc?

Re: Helppp!!
I know, love her.
With treats etc, she seems to be fine, she has 1 joint care stick and 1 denta a day and seems happy enough.
Altogether with wet food she only seems to have a bit here and there, unless its mashed up with wet food lol!!
What is she like? Lol xx

Re: Helppp!!
Have you tried adding a fresh raw egg or sardines in oil/tomato sauce? Helps to make the kibble more attractive
