Sound like you're having an easy firework season really glad she's feeling OK!
The big display near our house isn't actually until the 5th so we'll have to wait and see how Bruno copes!

Re: how typical !
Why is there a firework season anyway? Sorry, been wondering forever! We have a local firework display once per year, but personal fireworks are illegal in my town and it isn't really popular here in the USA. Hope it stays quite for ya!

Ben. Here in the UK we "celebrate" the arresting of desperados (led by Guido "Guy" Fawkes) who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament together with the King of the current time. I'm not sure if it James 2nd or when it was - hundreds of years ago anyway - very few of us Brits neither know nor care - suffice to say that that kids of all ages ever since enjoy building bonfires with effigies of Guy Fawkes atop, and setting off fireworks. Should be on 5th November but it has become very flexible - hence the "firework season".Ben wrote:Why is there a firework season anyway? Sorry, been wondering forever! In recent times fireworks are de riguer for welcoming in the New Year.
Whilst on the subject of "Guy Fawkes Night" I feel impelled to relate the following true story. Some years ago my mum and I visited York, and joined a guided walk around the old town. Apart from my mum and me, the rest of the smallish group were American. Our guide showed us the house where Guy Fawkes was born (or lived). Who was Guy Fawkes the Americans asked, and our guide with much more attention to accuracy than I have shown, told them. He went on to explain, much in the same way as I have above, how we Brits continue to celebrate his downfall. I'll never forget one American lady's somewhat flat and mournful response - "You guys certainly bear a grudge". Priceless.

Re: how typical !
Yep and only public display far enough from hone that the dogs aren't bothered. People aren't allowed to set off their own in my city so even with the odd one going off they are insignificant and we might hear one or two that have really no sound. Cops crack down pretty hard.
