No idea what is wrong!
Hi all. Our three year old rescue staffy is acting very strange, we have had her for a month. This morning we took her for her morning walk, albeit a wet walk! On three occasions she squatted to urinate but jumped up and barked as if something had spooked her. She did this three times during the walk and did not urinate. We took her back home as she seemed distressed and wanted to go home.
Since being home she doesn't want to sit on the sofa like usual, she seems very scared and keeps lying on the cold kitchen floor away from us. Managed to get her to go out in the garden for a quick wee once the rain had stopped. Probably unrelated but we have also notice some red spots near her nipples which have increased in number of the last couple of days.
Thanks for any advice you can give. We are taking her to the vets later as she really isn't herself.

I really don't know perhaps a water infection? the vet will be able to put your mind at rest, let us know how it goes and don't worry too much xx

If it has been raining, some dogs are really put off by the rain, like my Rocky, he hates it!! But if you have noticed some bumps maybe she is allergic to something? could you upload a photo for us to have a better look? Has she been itchy or trying to lick the spots?
Great that you are getting her to the vet though.

Re: No idea what is wrong!
Can't get her to role over at the mo and and as she seems so down I don't want to force her. The spots are red, raised and look a bit like insect bits or really bad pimples. Only just managed to coax her into the living room but she won't sit in her usual spot on the sofa. She has approached the sofa a few times and looks like she wants to jump up but something seems to put her off. Fingers crossed the vet will help when we go later. Cheers

Re: No idea what is wrong!
Sounds like she may have been biten by an insect or something like that hence her wanting to lie on the cold floor. I'm sure the vet will sort things out. Please let us know how you get on there.

Re: No idea what is wrong!
Thanks guys. She isn't itching or licking the spots. So weird as when we got up this morning she was her usual bouncy, excited to go out self.

Re: No idea what is wrong!
They said she may have a touch of cystitis and the red spots are a rash. She was given two injections and we have been given some tablets. Vet wants to see her again this week. She seems to have perked up a bit now

Re: No idea what is wrong!
So glad that your vet has been able to diagnose and start treating the trouble so quickly. Poor little girl, cystitis sting like mad and gives a tummy ache. Do let us know how she progresses

Re: No idea what is wrong!
Sounds like it could be cystitis?
